Sleep apnea doesn’t always look the way we expect.

In this clip from Inside Sleep Matters, Dr Rosalba Courtney highlights a group of people with sleep apnea who are often missed. They’re young, slim, and don’t fit the common stereotype many associate with sleep-disordered breathing.

For these individuals, breathing patterns may be unstable both during the day and at night, which can influence symptoms, diagnosis, and how well certain treatments work.

It’s a reminder that sleep health requires a broader lens and that assumptions can leave people overlooked.
