Ever had a good cry and felt better?
With October being mental health month, I often wonder if we need the same attention on emotional health.
The backlog of stress in our system from repressed emotions can be a weight that we carry, and that can be exhausting in itself.
We might feel ok to express anger or sadness, emotions that seem more socially acceptable, but suppress the deeper ones of shame, guilt and fear.
And if we keep the pain within us, it’s always there. And if there’s enough of it, it will eventually push itself to the foreground and become the filter through which we perceive life.
And that impacts how we show up.
From my own experience and that of clients, processing past residue somatically is the key to transforming overwhelm to clarity, effort to ease, and heaviness to feeling lighter.
And then we get to ride life’s waves without being dumped by them.
What if the key to mental health is through emotional health? 🤔
I’d love to know your thoughts, or feelings!
