This is Liz, one of our wonderful Occupational Therapists. She’s our sensory and regulation queen, helping little learners understand their bodies, emotions, and calm moments every day. 🤍
1. What is your role?
I’m an Occupational Therapist.
2. Why did you become an OT/SP?
In high school, a friend told me she wanted to be an OT because “they help people walk again.” I thought that sounded cool, so I chose OT too. On my very first day at uni I realised OT was nothing like what I thought – and I ended up loving it even more.
I had a paediatric placement and instantly knew that working with children and families was where I wanted to be.
3. What is your favourite part of your job?
I love getting to be creative, thinking outside the box, coming up with a plan B, (and C!) when children decide they’re not interested in what I had planned.
I also love helping families understand how their child’s brain works and supporting them to feel confident.
4. What is your favourite resource?
Definitely the crash mat, weighted toys, and wobble cushions. Anything Sensory.
5. What is your favourite area to work with?
Sensory-seeking children. I enjoy figuring out what helps them feel regulated and watching those strategies make a positive difference in their daily life.
