🧠 Living with Someone Who Has OCD — What You Need to Know

OCD is not about being “too clean” or “picky.”
It’s a real mental health condition where a person feels strong, repeated urges (obsessions) and does actions over and over (compulsions) just to feel temporary relief.

Sometimes… even they know it doesn’t make sense.
But their brain won’t let them stop.

💔 What it feels like for them:

• Constant doubt — “Did I do it right?”
• Feeling never “finished”
• Anxiety that only goes away after repeating actions
• Mental exhaustion from overthinking

🤝 How you can support them (without making it worse):

✔ Be patient, not critical
Avoid saying “Just stop” or “You’re overreacting”

✔ Don’t rush them
Pressure increases anxiety and makes the cycle worse

✔ Set gentle boundaries
Support them, but don’t fully participate in compulsions

✔ Use calm reassurance
Simple words like: “You’re safe. It’s okay.” go a long way

✔ Encourage professional support
Therapy can truly help (especially CBT)

💡 Remember:

They are not choosing this.
They are managing something you cannot see.

💬 If you’ve ever supported someone with OCD… what helped the most?

🚨 Stroke Warning Signs You Should Never Ignore

A stroke can happen suddenly and without warning — but recognizing the early signs can save a life.

Doctors recommend remembering the word FAST:

F – Face drooping
One side of the face may suddenly droop or feel numb.

A – Arm weakness
The person may not be able to raise one arm or keep it lifted.

S – Speech difficulty
Speech may become slurred, confused, or difficult to understand.

T – Time to call emergency services
If you notice any of these signs, call emergency services immediately.

⏱️ Every minute matters during a stroke.

⚠️ Signs You Might Be Emotionally Exhausted

Sometimes it’s not just physical tiredness — it’s emotional fatigue.

You might feel it when:

• Small things start to feel overwhelming
• You feel constantly drained, even after resting
• You lose motivation for things you normally enjoy
• You feel irritable or easily frustrated
• You feel mentally “checked out” or numb
• You struggle to focus or make decisions

Emotional exhaustion often happens when we spend long periods caring for others, dealing with stress, or pushing ourselves without enough rest.

Taking time to pause, rest, and ask for support is not a weakness — it’s an important step toward protecting your wellbeing.

💬 Have you ever experienced emotional exhaustion?

☀️ Morning Lemon & Apple Cider Drink

Starting your morning with a warm, simple drink can help wake up your digestive system and keep you hydrated.

This gentle morning drink includes:

🍋 Lemon juice
🍎 Apple cider vinegar
🌿 Cinnamon
💧 Lukewarm water

These ingredients may help support digestion and provide antioxidants that contribute to overall wellness.

Many people enjoy this type of drink as part of a healthy morning routine, especially when paired with a balanced breakfast and regular physical activity.

⚠️ Note: Apple cider vinegar can irritate the stomach for some people. If you have acid reflux, ulcers, or stomach sensitivity, it’s best to avoid it or speak with a health professional.

Small daily habits can make a big difference in supporting your overall health.

💬 Would you try this as part of your morning routine?

🥚 3 High-Protein Breakfast Combos to Start Your Day Right

Did you know that protein is one of the most important nutrients for maintaining strength, energy, and overall health — especially as we age?

A protein-rich breakfast can help:

✔ Maintain muscle strength and mobility
✔ Keep you full for longer and reduce unhealthy snacking
✔ Support brain function and concentration
✔ Stabilize blood sugar levels
✔ Help the body repair and build tissues

Many adults — especially older adults — don’t get enough protein in the morning, which can lead to fatigue, muscle loss, and reduced energy throughout the day.

Adding simple foods like eggs, nuts, cottage cheese, beans, or lean chicken can make a big difference.

Small changes in your breakfast can help support healthy ageing and daily energy.

💬 Which breakfast combo would you try first?

🔹 Older Australians raising concerns about the new assessment tool
Advocates report a surge in calls for help since the new Integrated Assessment Tool (IAT) started, with many saying it under-assesses care needs and limits human judgement.

🔹 Survey reveals what matters most to families & carers
A recent government survey showed that older people and families are most concerned about:
• the cost of care
• access to services
• quality of care.
About 68% have used My Aged Care.

🔹 NDIS funding challenges highlighted by families
There have been reports of NDIS funding being reduced significantly for some participants, placing stress on families trying to maintain essential therapy and support.
