Not sure how counselling placements work — or how you’ll meet your client hours?
You’re not alone 🤎
This is one of the most common questions we hear from people considering counselling training.
Placement is where theory becomes practice. It’s also the part of training that can feel the most daunting — especially if you’re unsure how you’ll find clients or navigate placement requirements.
At Metavision Institute, placements are designed to be supported, structured, and achievable 👏🏼
Our placement model includes two integrated parts:
• External placement organisations, where students gain experience in real-world counselling and wellbeing settings
• The Metavision Student Clinic, which supports students to build their Direct Client Contact (DCC) hours in a supervised, ethical environment
Rather than being expected to source your own clients independently, students are supported to work with real clients through the Student Clinic — building confidence, applying skills learned in class, and meeting clinical hour requirements with guidance and care 🕊️
Together, external placements and the Student Clinic ensure students are not left figuring things out alone as they move from classroom learning into real-world practice.
This supported approach helps reduce the stress many people associate with placement and allows students to focus on learning, development, and confidence-building — not logistics 🌟
📢 Final places remain for our March intake - if you’re considering counselling training this year, now is the time to apply ⏱️
