The dating scan is often the moment early pregnancy becomes real. ๐Ÿ’™ Swipe ๐Ÿ‘‰ to see all the information the dating scan discovers about your pregnancy.

Performed between 7 and 10 weeks, it is one of the most reassuring appointments of the first trimester. It confirms your babyโ€™s heartbeat, estimates your due date, checks the pregnancy is located in the uterus, and identifies whether you are expecting more than one baby.

The most accurate window for dating is 7 to 10 weeks, when measurements are reliable to within 5 days. If your ultrasound date differs from your last menstrual period date, your doctor may use the ultrasound estimate going forward.

An earlier scan may be recommended if you have bleeding, irregular cycles, conceived via IVF, or have a history of early pregnancy loss or complications.

At QUFW, dating scans are performed by experienced sonographers using high-resolution equipment, with a detailed report sent directly to your referring doctor.

The morphology scan is one of the most anticipated appointments of any pregnancy. Itโ€™s the first time parents see their baby in recognisable detail and the moment many choose to discover the gender. ๐Ÿ’™ Swipe to see what we look for. ๐Ÿ‘‰

Performed between 20 and 22 weeks, it is a detailed head-to-toe assessment of your babyโ€™s development and anatomy. From the four chambers of the heart to the structure of the spine, the position of the placenta to the length of the femur, every major system is carefully examined. The scan typically takes around 45 minutes, though this can vary depending on your babyโ€™s position on the day.

It is important to know that while the morphology scan is thorough, not all conditions are detectable on ultrasound. Our sonographers always work within the boundaries of what imaging can demonstrate.

At QUFW, every morphology scan is performed by a highly trained obstetric sonographer using state-of-the-art equipment and reviewed by one of our consultant specialist doctors before your report is finalised. If unexpected findings are identified, our doctors will discuss these with you and outline a clear path forward for you and your referring doctor.

If you have concerns going into your scan like a previous result, a family history, or simply a feeling you canโ€™t shake, please tell your sonographer. We will tailor our care for you. ๐Ÿ’™

These are the questions we hear most often about Asherman's Syndrome. ๐Ÿ’™

Asherman's Syndrome occurs when scar tissue forms inside the uterine cavity, often following a miscarriage, or previous placental complications. It can affect the shape and function of the uterus, and plays a significant role in fertility challenges and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Scar tissue inside the uterus sounds confronting, but understanding it is the first step toward getting answers.

At QUFW, our specialists use advanced transvaginal ultrasound and 3D imaging technology to assess the uterine lining in detail identifying even subtle signs of adhesions that standard imaging may miss.

When Asherman's is suspected, we may recommend a Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS): a procedure that uses sterile saline to distend the uterine cavity and reveal the inner lining in real time.

Swipe through for the biggest FAQs on this topic. ๐Ÿ‘‰

If you've experienced recurrent miscarriage, fertility challenges, or have a history of intrauterine procedures, speak to your GP about a referral for a thorough assessment. ๐Ÿ’™

Adenomyosis has historically been overlooked and mistaken for better-known conditions like endometriosis and fibroids.

Given the nature of the disease, diagnostic testing is difficult, leaving many women dealing with unexplained symptoms, dismissed concerns and unanswered questions.

If you've been experiencing painful or heavy periods, pelvic pain, or symptoms related to your cycle that feel difficult to explain, please don't dismiss them.

Start by speaking with your GP. You can ask specifically to explore whether adenomyosis could be a factor. A referral for a specialist gynaecological ultrasound is often one of the first steps toward getting answers.

The QUFW team can work with your GP and specialists to provide diagnostic information to guide your management and care plans. ๐Ÿ’™
