Glorious few days at Kingscliff with my extended family. Stunning sunrises and sunsets with whales playing in the background, with lots of frisbee, tree climbing, board games, beach walks and hanging out with some of our faves. Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia Seminar today at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane - which is a very cool building. Learning lots and privileged to hear a powerful story of lived experience with pelvic pain. Still much to learn and improvements to be made in our care of these patients, but days like today are an important step.

Another flashback Friday - back to our NT trip in May. My Dad grew up in central Queensland and LOVES the Australian bush and gum trees, which means I do too! I took a very large number of photos in my attempt to get the ‘perfect’ white gum tree, red rock and blue sky. I didn’t succeed but had fun trying, and am now subjecting you all to some of my attempts. These earrings from are good reminders!

Today’s earring are ‘flashback Friday’ earrings - on a Sunday! Almost two months ago I was blessed to spend 6 days in the Northern Territory travelling the Red Centre Way with a friend.

It was AMAZING. Glorious. We felt like we were away for way longer than 6 days…in a good way!

I’ll try and pick my favourite photos (which is extraordinarily hard) and share them, starting with Uluru. It sounds cliche, but the photos don’t do it justice. Ideally you see it, walk around it and appreciate how different it is in different lights and from different viewpoints. It is a magnificent, magical place.

These earrings are from an artwork called “Seven Sisters Dreaming” - Napaljarri-Warnu Jukurrpa.

Supporting women is my day to day work and passion, and normally this is in a clinical environment sharing their joys and struggles. This weekend it has been my privilege to spend time with a wonderful group of women enjoying a game they love. As a sponsor of Fuse Ultimate, we are in Adelaide at the Division 1 National Ultimate Disc Championships, where Fuse are representing Brisbane on the national stage. Ultimate is an amazing sport, and these women bring all of the best aspects of the sport and themselves every time they run onto the field. It is my joy to support Fuse Ultimate and all of their fantastic team members.

Happy Easter.

My sister and I twinning with our bunny earrings this morning.

I hope this time has been filled with family, chocolate, some adventures and quality time with loved ones.

I’ve been busy on call with some babies who decided Easter was a great time to be born, but have been blessed with family time too. Sat at a dinner table with all my siblings at once. Bliss.

Funky Friday earrings!!!! Today was a learning day. A good day - although I am always amazed how exhausting conferences are!

My earrings today are another Caloundra market purchase (happy memories), on my sparkly skirt from which is just the right amount of glitter and stretch (not sponsored - I just love it), with a pretty impressive view from the ladies bathroom .

There was also good coffee, as well as excellent company! As I said, a good day. With day 2 of the conference to come.

Another Friday has rolled past. I was so busy working I almost missed it! I did remember to take a photo of my earrings at the 11th hour. These earrings were a Caloundra holiday market purchase. Part of our holiday traditions.

I love turtles. Not sure why exactly…but I always have. They are serene, intriguing creatures who always seem calm and somehow wise. They live in one of my favourite places - the ocean - what’s not to love? They also remind me of a special girl.

A few weeks ago (pre-cyclone) my daughter, her cousin and I went on an adventure to Moreton Island for a birthday trip - and saw a few turtles! We are so blessed to have such stunning beaches, places to snorkel and oceans in our back yard. We had the best day with cruises. This was our second snorkelling trip for her birthday which she seems to think makes another tradition!

Enjoy the forced serenity of the pouring rain! I know I will!

I have seen a few people this week who have commented on my earrings and how they miss my regular funky Friday earring posts! A colleague loved the ones I had on yesterday so it’s as good a place as any to start.

This last fortnight has been HARD. So hard. Many tears, not an ideal amount of sleep. Obstetrics reminding me yet again that we control very little and most of the time have no good or satisfying answer to all of the “whys?”. But it has been way harder for my patients than it has been for me - and they keep going - doing all the very very hard things.

In amongst all of the sadness has been moments of joy and amazingness (I’m sure it’s a word).

I’ve been reminded of the absolute privilege it is to walk alongside my patients and their families, for all the good and the bad, even when it is hard and I desperately wish I had a magic wand and answers.

These earrings were a gift from a patient. I love them. I love magnolia flowers but I also love the trees - the colours of the leaves are divine. One of my favourite plants in our garden, even when it isn’t flowering.
