Hey guys, check out my update video on our VR wheelchair simulator game.

Big thanks to the guys over at Move Mobility for having us over to try out some of their wheelchairs.

The Mobility Revolution is ready, we've got proof of concept and demonstrating a growing market, but where's the investors?

While car manufacturers burn millions on concept cars that never make production (one prototype can cost £2M+ Google it), life-changing mobility tech like our FreeSolo and RockClimber2 sits waiting for funding.

These aren’t pipe dreams, they’re next-gen power mobility chairs,

FreeSolo
✅️ Equally capable indoors/outdoors
✅️ Able to climb 15cm curbs
✅️ Turns 360° on the spot
✅️ Tackles any terrain with all-wheel drive

RockClimber2
✅️ More accessible than first version
✅️ Built for off-road adventures
✅️ Same modular chassis as FreeSolo
✅️ Up to 15mph speeds over any terrain

In short, they’ll transform independence and quality of life for millions of people and be built in the UK.

So why aren’t they already in production?

Well, putting it bluntly, mobility innovation isn’t considered “sexy” enough for investors or government grants, unlike AI or something flashy for the masses, and profit margins aren't above 60%!!

Yet the business case is undeniable:
✅️ The right equipment gets people outdoors, improving physical/mental health, reducing healthcare costs
✅️ Enables access to jobs, creating taxpayers instead of dependents
✅️ For a fraction of the cost of a single concept car, an investor could redefine mobility in a sector crying out for innovation.

The mobility sector is already changing, with a growing interest in outdoor exploration and adventuring by wheelchair users. Just look at the popularity of Quantum Rehab UK new all-terrain powerchair, 'Outback', a chair I use myself to go off-roading and its so much fun.

People are wanting more freedom, access to nature and the ability to explore. It's no longer a niche market, but a growing, energised movement of outdoors and thrill seekers with disabilities demanding better kit.

That’s why now is the ideal time to get involved. The demand is here. The designs are ready. The market is growing.

When I became the first person to complete a solo ascent of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in the original version of our all-terrain chair RockClimber, it proved what’s possible and the online response showed a need, a new market.

To the automotive industry and forward-thinking investors: Your battery tech, fast charging systems, and R&D could revolutionise mobility. Instead of building fantasy cars for showroom applause, imagine being the brand that brought wheelchairs into the 21st century.

We have the designs. We have the vision.
What we need now are partners with courage and the foresight to see the impact.

Are you ready to change lives and further develop a rapidly growing market?

Spinal Life Australia / Sporting Wheelies are working on a project with Brisbane City Council and want to connect with people who would like to take part!

They are looking for people with lived experience of disability who own an adaptive mountain bike who would be willing to come along to a workshop with their bike and demonstrate its use. The aim of the workshop is to aid in implementing changes to existing facilities and trails and the creation of new facilities and trails.

The workshop will include staff from Brisbane City Council and staff from Spinal Life Australia/Sporting Wheelies. It would be held at Gap Creek Reserve, Brisbane. The participants would be reimbursed with gift cards at a rate of $50/hour. Three or four participants is ideal.

The workshop is expected to take 2-3 hours. Contact if you are able to assist.

SCI Photo of the Week: David Jeffers, a father, husband and disability advocate, is the focus of a new documentary called Quad Life, a film on the story of reinvention after a SCI and it follows him as he chases normal and navigates life as a sound designer with quadriplegia.

Here he is last May at Netflix's Global Accessibility Awareness Day Celebration, where he was joined by other disability advocates.

Hi everyone,

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Our VR Wheelchair project has been nominated for an award in the AccessCR Australian Consumer Partnerships in Research Awards. We've made it to the top 10 in our category and are now in the running for the people's choice award. Voting is now open, and your support would mean the world to Robert, me, and our entire team.

Our entry is judged on how well we demonstrate the value of consumer partnership at any stage of the research project, not our video production skills. Specifically, our focus is on the project's initiation phase where my involvement has been pivotal in identifying stakeholders, translating knowledge, and keeping the project grounded.

As some of you may know, I was a plumber before my accident, and leading this project has provided me with newfound confidence and skills. It has also made me feel listened to and valued as part of a team in ways I never imagined possible.

If you're interested in supporting us, here's how to vote:

1. Visit the Public Voting Portal and register. This is a very quick process and gives you access to the voting platform.

2. Once you are logged in, click on the "Judge" button on the top menu bar.

3. The VR Wheelchair project is in "Category A: Excellence in Consumer Partnership in Non-Commercial Research". The nomination is called “Initiating a consumer-led pilot project to codesign a virtual reality motorised wheelchair simulator”

4. You only get one vote in each category. Feel free to browse the other categories and show your support for other projects.

Also please pass this on to anyone who you might think would like to vote for our project
Thanks!
