Who swiped left?? 🙋🏼♀️
The human brain’s natural curiosity is a fascinating aspect of our cognitive make up.
Curiosity emerges early in childhood and plays a crucial role in cognitive development. Children are naturally curious and constantly asking questions as they explore the world around them. This curiosity-driven exploration is essential for picking up knowledge and developing thinking skills.
Research suggests that curiosity is associated with various cognitive benefits, including improved learning, memory, and problem-solving skills. When we are curious about a topic, we are more motivated to engage with it, leading to deeper processing and better retention of information (Gottlieb, J. 2013).
So next time, instead of saying to you little one, “don’t open that box of toys!”, say, “you can play with your car track”. It’s harder than you think to reframe our instructions to our little ones, it takes lots of practice!
