This is so brilliantly written I just had to share it with you all.
💞 Knowing your options before birth can help you decide during birth. Gas and Air is used every day with great results and may be of benefit to you.
🌟Great thing about it is: if it isn't for you, then you can stop using it and the effects disappear quickly! 👣

One of your pain relief options if you are birthing at a hospital is gas or also known as Entonox. It is a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. You use a mouth piece (as pictured) or a mask to breathe in the Gas. The gas then enters the lungs, and then is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. It passes around the body, reaching the brain within 15 seconds.
Benefits:
✔️It helps take the edge off the intensity/pain during a surge/contraction.
✔️It is easy to use, as you can inhale it during a surge/contraction through a mask or a mouthpiece.
✔️ You can maintain upright positioning during your labour.
✔️You can move around your birth space whilst using it.
✔️It can be used at any stage of labour.
✔️It can help manage/control your your breathing.
✔️ You can control how much you inhale/use.
Cons:
✖️You may feel a little nauseous, dizzy or light-headed.
✖️You may have dry mouth for a short time.
✖️It may cause you to vomit.
✖️It can sometimes make you feel drowsy.
It’s important to look at the risks and Benefits of any test, procedure or pain relief option in order to help decide what is best for you and your baby! I used gas during the early stages of labour with my son. Did you use gas during your labour?
