📄 Looking at your NDIS plan for the first time can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be! Here’s a simple breakdown:

🔹 Core Supports = Everyday needs and daily living
🔹 Capacity Building = Skills, therapy, and independence
🔹 Capital Supports = Equipment, technology, or home mods

💡 Pro tip: Don’t try to read it all in one go — start with your goals section first.

💬 If you’re still unsure, that’s where Support Coordination comes in. We can break it down and help you use your funding with confidence.

Being a carer is an act of love, but it can also feel overwhelming. Burnout happens when your cup runs empty — and you deserve support too 💙

Signs of carer burnout:
⚡ Feeling exhausted all the time
⚡ Losing patience or feeling guilty
⚡ Neglecting your own health and needs

Supports that can help:
✅ Respite care to give you a break
✅ Peer support groups
✅ Mental health services

🌼 Remember: caring for yourself is caring for them too.

🍎 Living with diabetes isn’t always easy — and sometimes the supports available under the NDIS aren’t obvious. Did you know you may be able to access:

✅ Dietitian or nutrition support
✅ Help with daily tasks if diabetes impacts your independence
✅ Allied health like podiatry or psychology
✅ Equipment to support safe management

🌱 The NDIS isn’t just about funding — it’s about helping you live the life you want with the right supports.

💬 Unsure what supports you can access? A Support Coordinator can walk you through your plan and options.

🧭 You might hear the words “choice and control” a lot in the NDIS — but what do they really mean?

Under the NDIS, you have the right to:

✅ Choose your support workers and providers
✅ Decide how and when services are delivered
✅ Be involved in setting your own goals
✅ Speak up if something doesn’t feel right

“Choice and control” isn’t just a slogan — it’s the foundation of person-centred care.

💬 If you feel like you don’t have a say in your supports, it might be time to review your plan or speak with a Support Coordinator.

📩 We’re here to help you feel confident in your decisions and in control of your NDIS journey.

The Ekka returns to Brisbane this week and for many, it’s a highlight of the year 🎉

But for some people with disability — especially those with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or mobility needs — large public events can feel overwhelming instead of fun.

💡 Planning ahead can make all the difference.
Here are some gentle tips to support a more accessible experience:
🎟️ Visit early in the day to avoid peak crowds and queues
🎧 Bring sensory supports like headphones, sunglasses, or fidget tools
🧩 Create a visual schedule or map out your stops
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Attend with a support worker or buddy who understands your needs
😌 Take breaks in shaded or quiet areas to reset

At Flow Support, we help participants engage in community life in ways that feel safe, supported, and meaningful — including helping you prepare for events like Ekka with calm planning, access support, and encouragement every step of the way.

💬 Whether it’s your first Ekka or your fiftieth, we’re here to walk beside you.

This week is about raising awareness, recognising the signs, and showing support for people living with the effects of stroke.

💡 Did you know that one in four people will experience a stroke in their lifetime? A stroke can happen without warning — but recognising the signs early can change the outcome.

Knowing the signs can save lives. Think F.A.S.T.:
F – Face drooping
A – Can’t lift both arms
S – Slurred or confused speech
T – Time is critical — call 000

💔 National Homelessness Week in August is a time to raise awareness about the struggles faced by individuals without stable housing and to advocate for systemic change.

Our Managing Director, Chanel, understands the realities of homelessness on a personal level. Having spent two years of her childhood living in a tent, she knows firsthand the challenges and resilience required to overcome such circumstances. This experience drives Flow Support's commitment to helping others build stable and fulfilling lives.

At Flow Support, we believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. This week, let’s amplify the voices of those affected, advocate for change, and take meaningful steps—big or small—to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Together, we can make a difference.

📊 Did you know? On any given night, over 116,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness.

If your supports aren’t working, you don’t have to stick with them.

NDIS participants have the right to choose who supports them — and to make a change when something doesn’t feel right.

At Flow Support, we often help people:
🔁 Review their current providers
📋 Update their service agreements
🚪 Transition to supports that feel safe, skilled, and trustworthy

💬 It’s your plan. Your choice. And we’re here if you need guidance.
