Today we mark R U OK? Day across NSW, a national day of action dedicated to reminding us all of the power of a simple question: “Are you OK?”

At National Ability Service, we know how important it is to feel supported, connected, and heard. Checking in with a friend, colleague, or loved one can open the door to meaningful conversations that might change someone’s life.

Remember:
💛 Asking is just the first step.
💛 Listen with care and without judgment.
💛 Encourage action if they need support.
💛 Keep checking in regularly.

Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community where no one feels alone.

So today, and every day, let’s pause and ask: “R U OK?”

📢 NDIS Pricing Guide Updated – Here's What It Means for ParticipantsThe NDIS released its latest Pricing Arrangements this July, and while many of the changes aim to improve fairness and transparency, they can be a little tricky to navigate.

Here’s what’s new:

✔️ Hourly rate adjustments for support workers
✔️ Changes to how travel time can be billed
✔️ Updated rules around short-notice cancellations

So what does this mean for YOU? It means you may need to review your current service agreements to make sure pricing is up to date and that you’re getting the full value from your NDIS plan. At NAS, we help participants understand these changes, and we make sure providers are operating ethically and transparently.

📲 DM us to schedule a plan review or pricing Q&A with your Support Coordinator.

Participant Tip: Ask your provider for a detailed invoice or quote, you have the right to understand every charge.

What Providers Need to Know: Monthly SIL Fund Releases For providers delivering higher-cost supports like Supported Independent Living (SIL), the latest NDIS update introduces monthly fund releases.

This change supports better financial oversight, helping:
✔️ Reduce instances of fraud
✔️ Encourage responsible use of funding
✔️ Provide predictable cash flow for providers

If you're delivering SIL supports, now’s the time to review how your systems and invoicing processes align with this new schedule.

At NAS, our team has already adapted our internal systems to ensure participants and providers experience a seamless transition.

Do you know what should be in your NDIS service agreement?

A clear service agreement helps everyone stay on the same page. Here’s what to check:

✔️ Services you’ll receive
✔️ How and when you’ll receive them
✔️ Costs and billing details
✔️ How changes or cancellations are managed
✔️ Your rights and responsibilities

Having the right info protects participants and providers. Need help? Our NAS team is happy to assist.

Not sure what the difference is between SIL (Supported Independent Living) and SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation)?

Let’s simplify it:

SIL = Support with daily living in a home environment
SDA = Specialist housing designed for extreme functional impairment
At NAS, we offer both with care that’s tailored and respectful.
