Earlier this week Professor Trent Twomey, National President of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, announced APP2026 will be opened by Queensland's Premier Crisafulli. The Hon Mark Butler MP, Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, and Senator Anne Ruston, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, will return to APP to address delegates on Friday 13 March 2026.

Professor Twomey noted that Minister Butler’s attendance comes at an important time for the sector. “With major national conversations underway about the future of primary health, workforce capacity, and equitable access to patient services, the Minister’s insights will be invaluable to pharmacists and pharmacy owners across the country.”

Terrific to meet today with my new local The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland rep Matthew Newman, who's based at Foote's Pharmacy Rosewood.

We had good chat about issues facing the Guild and profession, and how the Albanese Government's cheaper medicines reforms have helped patients across Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area.
