❄️Winter has well and truly arrived in Brisbane! As temperatures drop, it is important to ensure we are taking extra care of our eye health. The cooler winter air and indoor heating can be very dry and can cause irritation, stinging, redness, and sometimes excessive watering as your body tries to keep your eyes moist.
At East Vision Optometry, our optometrists can help you deal with your dry eyes. Here are a few helpful tips:
1. Soothe your eyes with warm compresses: placing a warm compress over your eyes every morning can help unclog the eyelid ducts to get tear production going and to help soothe irritation.
2. Eye drops: regular use of preservative-free eye drops can help relieve dry eye symptoms. Not all drops are made equal - come in to chat with one of our optometrists and we can recommend a drop that would best suit your eyes!
3. Use a humidifier: a humidifier adds moisture to the dry indoor air. Use one in the places that you spend most of your time, such as your workplace and bedroom.
4. For those crisp sunny days where you want to head outside and soak up the sunshine, don’t forget to protect your eyes with UV blocking sunglasses! Harmful ultraviolet rays can cause inflammation on the surface of your eyes and more irritation.

📣 We are excited to welcome Dr Annabelle to the East Vision team! 👀 If you think she looks familiar, you are correct! Annabelle was one of our earliest employees working as an optical dispenser with us while studying Optometry 🤓. After graduating (with honours!) she moved to Melbourne for few years, but we are thrilled to now have her back at East Vision, this time as an Optometrist!
Annabelle grew up a Balmoral local and brings a friendly and approachable nature. She is dedicated to providing the best eye care to her patients. She is therapeutically endorsed and has special interests in children's vision, ocular disease management and contact lens fitting.
