Last week, our Southern Cross Care family came together for a night of celebration, connection and recognition at our annual Chair’s Dinner. ✨

It was a wonderful evening spent with our leaders, staff and key community partners as we acknowledged the outstanding dedication and care of our finalists and winners.

Last month, our beautiful Glady from Murgon aged care home celebrated her 102nd birthday with family, friends and fellow residents! 🎉🎂

Glady has been cherished member of the Castra community for many years. She first lived in one of our Independent Living Units for more than two decades, volunteering and helping with activities along the way. In 2022, she moved into our residential care home, and she remains as active and spirited as ever – joining in with cooking, bingo, word games and indoor bowls, and bringing joy to everyone she meets. 🤗

When asked her secret to a long and happy life, Glady shared her wisdom: “Always try to be happy and get along with people. Don’t argue – just listen. Life has its ups and downs, so stay positive.” 🌟

Happy 102nd birthday, Glady! Thank you for the light, laughter and kindness you bring to us every day. 💖

What a beautiful day for a scenic drive along the Sunshine Coast! 🌞🚐

Yesterday, residents from our Caloundra aged care home enjoyed the sunshine, sea breeze and stunning coastal views as they travelled from Cotton Tree all the way back to Caloundra. 🌊

There were smiles, good conversations, and plenty of moments spent simply taking in the sparkling ocean views. Days like these remind us how special it is to live in such a stunning part of the world, and how important it is to keep enjoying it at every stage of life. 💙

Last month, our St Mary’s aged care home joyfully celebrated its 35th anniversary! 🎉 The day was filled with laughter, dancing, a vibrant concert, and, of course, the cutting of a beautiful celebratory cake. 🎂

We were delighted to welcome back Rob, who performed at St Mary’s during its opening year, along with his daughter Lisa – once a young girl accompanying him, and now a regular performer at our events. Their ongoing connection with our home brought a lovely sense of warmth and nostalgia to the celebration. 💙

Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a memorable celebration. Here’s to the next chapter for St Mary’s. 🤗

This Remembrance Day, our aged care homes came together to honour and remember the incredible service and sacrifice of our Veterans. 🌺 Residents marked the occasion with reflection, stories, poppies and a quiet moment of silence to pay their respects.

At Nanango aged care home, a very special visitor joined the commemoration – ‘Little Man’ the horse trotted in to bring smiles and a gentle sense of connection to our community. 🐴✨

It was a day full of reflection, gratitude and heartfelt remembrance. Lest we forget.

Today on , we pause at 11am to honour the brave men and women who have served and those who gave their lives for our country.

We give thanks to every Veteran and service member for their courage, sacrifice and devotion to protecting the freedoms we cherish today.

May we continue to remember them – not just today, but always.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.'

This week, residents across our aged care homes celebrated the Melbourne Cup Luncheon with fabulous outfits, colourful fascinators and a few friendly sweeps along the way. 🏇✨

At Stretton Gardens Retirement Village, the celebrations continued with delicious individual grazing platters and the crowd-favourite Handicap Race! The room was filled with cheers, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community spirit. 💛

Thank you to all our teams for creating such a fun and festive day for our residents! It truly captured the joy and togetherness that Melbourne Cup brings each year. 🏆
