Today, we join the global community in recognising and celebrating the incredible nurses who bring care and clinical expertise to our residential aged care homes every single day.

This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” reminds us of the vital role nurses play in shaping the future of aged care. When we support and empower our nurses, we enable their knowledge, compassion, and leadership to shine even brighter. 🩺

To mark the occasion, our residents shared heartfelt messages of gratitude for the nurses who care for them day and night. From simple words of thanks to deeply personal reflections, each message highlights the strong bonds built through trust, kindness, and dedicated care.

To all our nurses, thank you for the professionalism and heart you bring to your role. We are deeply grateful for everything you do to help our residents feel known and loved. 🌟

This Mother’s Day, we are honoured to share the beautiful story of Patricia Maczyszyn, a cherished resident at St Mary’s aged care home. 💖

Patricia grew up in Silkstone before later moving to Booval, where she spent many years building her life and career. From starting work at just 14 at the Woollen Mills, to later becoming a telephonist at the Ipswich Post Office in her 30s, Patricia’s life has been shaped by hard work and resilience.

But her greatest pride has always been her family. Patricia is a proud mother of four children, grandmother to nine, and great-grandmother to seven. She treasures the big family gatherings at Christmas and Easter, where laughter and love fill the room. 💕

When asked what advice she would give, Patricia smiles and says, “The love only grows stronger with every child.” A simple but beautiful reminder of the lifelong bond between a mother and her family.

Wishing Patricia and all the wonderful mothers in our community a very Happy Mother’s Day! 🌷

Earlier this week, our aged care homes took part in World Hand Hygiene Day activities, focusing on the importance of clean hands and healthy habits. 🖐️🫧

Residents enjoyed a fun and interactive session using Glitter Bug Gel and UV light to see how clean their hands were washed. It was a great way to learn and understand just how important proper hand hygiene is in keeping everyone safe and healthy. 🧼

Thank you to our lifestyle teams for making health education engaging and enjoyable for our residents! 💛

Our residents at Nanango home in Karinya have been enjoying some fun activities lately, proving that even simple household items can be transformed into something special.

Using paper towels, residents created beautiful, colourful flowers, each one unique and full of personality.🌸🌼 The creativity and attention to detail brought so many smiles around the room.

The fun didn’t stop there, with another activity bringing plenty of laughter as residents took part in a playful “toilet paper derby” that had everyone smiling and cheering each other on.

It’s moments like these that show creativity has no limits and joy can be found in the simplest things. ✨

After many years without a holiday, our Ipswich Home Care client Beverley finally enjoyed a truly special getaway to Sea World Resort recently, accompanied by our support worker Karen. ✨

A lifelong animal lover, Beverley had always dreamed of seeing dolphins up close. That moment became unforgettable, as she watched them with tears of happiness and returned later to enjoy the show all over again. 🐬

Throughout the trip, Karen provided caring support every step of the way, helping Beverley feel comfortable and happy as they explored Sea World, enjoyed shopping outings, and picked out special soft toy souvenirs to remember the experience.

For Beverley, this wasn’t just a holiday; it was a deeply meaningful experience she will never forget. She is already dreaming of her next adventure, including visiting Maryborough or returning to Rockhampton where she was born. 💙

Across our aged care homes and retirement villages, residents and staff came together this ANZAC Day to honour and remember those who served for our country. 🌺

Special services were held across our homes, where residents took part in meaningful tributes such as reading poems and laying wreaths. Many proudly wore poppies while others wore rosemary pins that were freshly picked and crafted as a symbol of remembrance. A heartfelt atmosphere filled each service as everyone paused to reflect and pay their respects.

The morning concluded with a shared moment over ANZAC biscuits and tea, bringing everyone together in quiet reflection and gratitude. Lest we forget. 💙
