Easter is just around the corner, and there’s already a lovely buzz across our homes 🐣✨

Our residents have been enjoying time getting creative together. From painting ceramic bunnies to weaving Easter baskets and decorating eggs, every piece being made is made with so much heart.

Seeing the focus and pride on our residents' faces as they finish their masterpieces really reminds us what this season is all about – connection and the simple joy of creating something beautiful. 🌻

💛 Spreading warmth in our community! 💛

Our wonderful residents at Edens Landing aged care home, Ivy, Maureen and Rhonda, have been busy knitting handmade beanies and scarves recently. Thanks to their efforts, a total of 29 beanies and 18 scarves were donated to Sheltered By Grace in Waterford.

These cozy gifts will be handed out at the shelter and to people experiencing homelessness in our local parks and tents, bringing comfort and warmth to those who need it most this winter.

We are so proud of our residents for their generosity and care for our wider community. ✨

Yesterday at our St Mary’s aged care home, we celebrated the retirement of our wonderful Marie Pyle, who has dedicated 13 years to our Raceview community. 🎉

Throughout her time with us, Marie took on many roles, from Personal Care Assistant to supporting lifestyle activities, administration, and mentoring new staff during their first days. No matter the job, she always brought kindness, warmth and a willingness to help wherever needed. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel supported and was often described as being “like a mother” by those around her.

Marie's impact is felt in so many ways. She created joy and connection through the Friday café and built meaningful relationships with residents and families who cherish her. In recognition of her outstanding contribution, Marie received the "Known & Loved Stars award" at our Employee Excellence Award in 2024. 🏆

Thank you Marie for everything you have given to our community. We wish you all the very best in your retirement! 🌟💙

🌍 Last weekend, Harmony Day was celebrated across our aged care homes, embracing the beauty of diversity and the joy of coming together. 🌟

At Oasis in Mildura, the day was filled with connection and fun, starting with baking, followed by a friendly game of Italian Bocce, and finishing with a delightful Harmony High Tea featuring sweet treats from different countries.

Over at Stretton Gardens, our staff proudly wore their traditional attire, sharing stories and laughter over a special morning tea with residents. It was a lovely way to honour the many cultures that make up our community and to celebrate what makes each person unique. 🧡

Let’s continue to foster a culture where everyone feels valued, respected and included, not just today but every day. 🧡

There was a touch of green and plenty of cheer across our homes yesterday as we celebrated St Patrick’s Day together! 🍀💚

Residents and staff embraced the festive spirit with a range of fun activities. From lively games of Irish bowls to music, dancing and laughter, it was a day filled with energy and connection. Some of our homes also enjoyed a delicious Irish-inspired lunch, bringing a taste of tradition to the table.

It was a lovely way to spend time together and celebrate the spirit of the day. Thank you to our amazing teams for bringing the spirit of St Patrick’s Day to life across our communities! ✨

This morning brought a very special guest to our Allora Homestead home – Prince Harry, our adorable Shetland Pony! 🐴💛

It was such a joy to see our residents’ eyes light up as they greeted him and shared some affectionate pats. We couldn’t resist sneaking a few carrots from the kitchen to treat Prince Harry, and he happily munched away while our residents laughed and chatted about their pony memories.

Thank you Prince Harry, for bringing your sweet spirit to Allora Homestead. We can’t wait for your next visit! 🙌

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Occupational Therapy students from SQRH - Southern Queensland Rural Health, Hannah Lenton and Rieley Bloor, to our Illoura Village home in Chinchilla as part of their placement.

During their time with us, the students ran a lovely intergenerational session and organised a pop-up shop with our residents. These activities brought plenty of smiles, great conversations and meaningful connections across generations.

Moments like these are truly special for our community and also play an important role in supporting the learning journey of future health professionals.

Thank you to the SQRH students for sharing your time and enthusiasm with our residents. We loved having you here! 💙

Happy International Women’s Day! 💙

Today we celebrate the incredible women who are part of our Southern Cross Care community. Our residents have lived through many chapters of life, and their wisdom and strength continue to inspire us every day.

To mark this special day, we’re sharing some beautiful words from the women in our homes. Their quotes remind us of the importance of resilience, compassion and staying true to yourself.

We are so grateful to the remarkable women who make our communities so special. Happy International Women’s Day to all the women who inspire us, today and every day. ✨

A little bit of whimsy brightened our week as our Stretton Gardens residents enjoyed a special Dr Seuss Week high tea! 🎩📚

Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon together with sweet treats and tea. The famous hat and bow tie from The Cat in the Hat made a special appearance too, bringing smiles and a playful touch to the celebration.

For those who may not know, Dr Seuss Week celebrates the joy of reading and storytelling, reminding us that a little imagination can brighten any day! ✨

Our Harold Williams residents in Broken Hill have been enjoying something very special lately – beautiful portraits created just for them by our staff! 🎨💛

Some residents even got hands-on, painting their own portraits and seeing themselves come to life on paper. It’s been wonderful to witness their delight and pride in these unique creations, and the joy they bring when shared with friends and family.

Art has a magical way of capturing personality, memories, and smiles. And at Harold Williams, it’s certainly sparking plenty of them! 🌟
