Generic reports don’t build strong cases. Tailored evidence does.
Too often, lawyers receive assessments that are full of detail but light on relevance. The result? Extra work connecting the dots — and a risk that key questions remain unanswered.
At MLEA, we design OT assessments around your needs and your client’s circumstances. Each report is clear, objective, and focused on the functional evidence that will make the biggest impact - while staying conscious of budget.
Because the strongest evidence isn’t just comprehensive, it’s fit for purpose.

How does a personal story become a courtroom fact?
A big part of OT medicolegal work is translation; turning lived experiences (like needing help with shopping or fatigue after an hour of work) into measurable, defensible evidence.
That’s why our reports go beyond clinical findings. We include clear explanations, research, and practical insights that connect medical evidence to everyday function.
At MLEA, we see this balance as essential. When evidence reflects real lift, decision makers can deliver fairer outcomes.

So many people believe the next device will solve everything. But here’s the truth: assistive technology on its own rarely delivers independence.
The missing piece? Support and training that makes those tools part of real life.
That’s where occupational therapy comes in, helping people with vision impairment choose the right technology, learn how to use it, and apply it meaningfully every day.
đź’ˇ In our latest blog, we explore how OT bridges the gap between technology and true independence.
✨ Supporting children with complex needs takes teamwork.
Our Allied Health Assistant, Christine, works under the guidance of our OTs to deliver therapy programs for children with Autism Level 3 and Global Developmental Delay.
By using sensory supports, visuals, and social stories - and collaborating with families, schools, and other professionals, Christine helps children build trust, regulate emotions, and develop early communication skills.
Over time, these small steps lead to big growth: enjoying play, building positive routines, and participating with more confidence.
👉 Tip for Referrers: Children who continue to experience challenges with routines, regulation, or social interaction may benefit from an early OT referral. Consistent, collaborative support makes daily life more manageable, and more rewarding.

Stakeholder meetings are one of the most effective tools in our occupational therapy toolbox; but they're often undervalued.
When done well, they bring the whole team together to support a participant:
👥 OTs
👥 Support Coordinators
👥 Behaviour Support Practitioners
👥 Allied health teams
👥 Families or nominees
👥 Support workers or SIL staff
These meetings aren’t just about updates.
They’re about aligning goals, clarifying roles, and building practical, coordinated plans that actually move things forward.
As OTs, we help connect the dots to ensure support is functional, consistent, and centred on the person’s real needs and goals.
True impact happens when the whole team is working together with the participant at the centre.

Mia Martin is an Occupational Therapist with MLEA, bringing experience across various clinical settings and within the medicolegal space providing assessments and opinions for personal injury claims (inclusive of medical negligence and dust disease cases).
At Seeing Through the Pain, Mia will speak about the unique role of occupational therapy in the medicolegal context, particularly where pain symptoms are present, objective evidence may be scarce, and bias can subtly influence opinion.
Her session will explore how pain impacts function, how we can better interpret lived experience, and what practical steps clinicians can take to reduce bias in reporting.
Join Mia and a panel of experts in pain medicine, neuropsychology, and law as they unpack the clinical, cognitive, and legal considerations surrounding pain in personal injury claims.

Investing in professional growth is how we future-proof our practice. That’s why our latest training and development day was all about stepping back from the day to day to sharpen skills, expand knowledge and strengthen practice across both medicolegal and community occupational therapy.
