Before becoming a support worker, there are a few important things you should seriously think about 👇

1️⃣ Why are you doing it?
This job isn’t just a paycheck… it’s about genuinely wanting to help people live better, more independent lives. If your motivation is purely money, you’ll burn out fast. You need patience, empathy, and the right intentions.

2️⃣ Are you emotionally prepared?
Support work can be incredibly rewarding, but also challenging. You may deal with complex behaviours, difficult situations, or emotional conversations. Being able to stay calm, professional, and compassionate is key.

3️⃣ Can you commit to reliability?
Clients rely on you & consistency matters. Turning up on time, following through, and being someone people can trust is non-negotiable in this role.

If you can confidently say yes to all three, support work can be one of the most fulfilling careers out there.
