Today, we stand in solemn reflection, united in spirit with Australians past and present, to honour the brave hearts who fought and fell in our nation's service. On this Remembrance Day, we remember the enduring legacy of those who sacrificed everything in the crucible of war, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
At the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we recall the moment when the guns of the Western Front ceased their roar in 1918, marking the end of relentless warfare and the dawn of peace. This moment has since etched itself into our collective memory, symbolising not just an end but a solemn vow to remember those who paid the ultimate price for freedom.
Across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, and allied nations, we unite in spirit, paying homage to the heroes of the First World War and every conflict after that. At 1100, we will observe a minute of silence - a silent tribute to the brave souls who laid down their lives for us.
Today, we remember them - the fallen, their families, and their loved ones. We carry their stories, ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten.
