🌏 Join Our Senior Upcycling & Recycling Program! 🌟

The Seniors at Redland District Special School are excited to be partnering with Moreton Bay College in an upcycling and recycling initiative.

We are collecting clean, food-grade coloured bottle tops — such as juice and milk bottle tops — to help reduce waste and support the circular economy.

♻️ How you can help:
✅ Collect clean, coloured bottle tops
✅ Bring them to your classroom
✅ Bottle tops will be collected from classrooms every Friday

🌱 Why it matters:
Together, we can reduce waste, protect our environment, and turn recyclable materials into useful upcycled products.

📅 Collection day: Every Friday
📍 Where: Your classroom

Start collecting today — every bottle top counts!

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Upcycle!

Thank you for your support.

Flu season is here, and keeping kids healthy helps them stay engaged in learning. Simple steps like handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when unwell can make a big difference. If your child is sick, please contact the school so we can work together to keep them on track.

Every day counts is a state wide initiative that aims to assist in improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community.

Positive transitions start with families.
Families play a vital role in helping children feel safe, confident and connected as they move into and through school.
Whether it is from home to early learning, kindergarten to school, primary to secondary, positive transitions between these settings are vital to shape a learner’s sense of belonging, confidence and wellbeing.
Transitions are not one-off events—they are ongoing and can be complex and diverse. When learners and families feel
supported during these transitions, they are more likely to feel settled, engaged and ready to grow in their learning journey.

Positive transitions is key to helping every learner feel supported...

On Monday we attended our first ever 3x3 Basketball competition at Yarrabilba State College. We played 7 games and won 5/7 with an overall 3rd place win in division 1. We are so proud of this achievement as we were the only special school in division 1 and were up against mainstream students. The team played brilliantly, showing great team work in all games. Well done Ravens, we are so proud of you all!

Yesterday we arrived home from Straddle in time for ropes and balance challenges. We met some cool reptiles before dinner and enjoyed a fire for roasting marshmallows. This morning we rose early to head fishing. We caught four fish in saltwater and then headed back to the freshwater ponds to investigate freshwater critters. The trailer is packed and ready to head to school after lunch. It’s been a lovely sunny day!!

A great first day at Stradbroke for our Year Ten camp. We boarded the Educat and headed towards Tipplers resort for a bush walk and games. Thankfully the rain held off long enough for us to try some fire-making. We also saw a random pirate ship on the way!!
Heading back to our cabins to settle in and have some warm showers .
