Do you know what your superannuation balance is? 💰

Firstly though, I know you’re probably thinking how is this at all relevant to health?! Well, stress is a massive contributor to poor physical and mental health, so let’s minimise financial stress!

Anyhoo, I remember getting signed up for super at my first job—flipping burgers at Hungry Jack’s, thinking, ‘This’ll be relevant
 never.’ Yet here I am, mid-30s, attempting to adult for future Granny Emma. đŸ‘”đŸ»

Sparked initially by the possibilities that the Barefoot Investor described (free audiobook, because who has time/money), I was curious about how finances impacted our overall health. I had to grapple with my core beliefs that financial success was reserved for the coupled. It was disheartening💔

After chipping away listening to other books and podcasts - especially targeting women, I figured out that financial freedom doesn’t require a partner (cue dramatic sigh of relief). Super seriously though, we’ve got to talk about this. Apparently, $595k is what a single person needs to retire comfortably—yes, that’s a real number, not a typo.
And WTF is up with the gender gap?! When we’re silent, we’re disconnected and when we’re disconnected, we can’t help each other!

Isn’t it odd how talking finance is a social taboo, while it steadily compounds in the background, waiting to bite us later? And WTF is up with the gender gap?! Like It’s high time we stopped pretending our financial futures will just ‘work themselves out.’ Who’s with me?đŸ™‹â€â™€ïž

Can’t live without coffee?đŸ˜°â˜•ïž

You’re not alone. An estimated 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed worldwide EVERYđŸ‘đŸ»DAMNđŸ‘đŸ»DAYđŸ‘đŸ»

I’m not a HUGE coffee drinker (you won’t find me drinking more than 1 a day), because I’m quite sensitive to itđŸ„€

Don’t get me wrong,
I love the smell,
I love the taste,
I love the ritual,
And I love the social activity

But I don’t like feeling anxious or having my sleep disrupted. I also don’t like feeling like I NEED it! So periodically, I give my body a break from it. This allows me to change both the chemical/physiological and behavioural/habitual dependencies on it.

As of Jan first, I’m going coffee free for a month and will soon be weaning myself off my much adored black tea (so completely caffeine free) and in that time I’m opting for non caffeinated alternatives such as dandelion or herbal teasđŸ«–

I’m looking forward to clearer thinking, more stable moods and consistent energyđŸ€žđŸŒâ€â™€ïž
