Our Family is growing!
We would love to welcome our newest member to join the Amplify Life Family *drum roll please🥁*

Please welcome our newest Occupational Therapist, Art Therapist & EFT Practitioner - TAMMY!!

Tammy will be starting with us as of the 12th of February. Tammy's Service Area is based on the Sunshine Coast but can travel to other locations where needed. Tammy offers a wide range and varied skill set, which we are so excited to be able to offer through Amplify Life. Tammy is a Certified EFT Practitioner (stands for Emotional Freedom Technique). EFT is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It's also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. As well as being a fully qualified Occupational Therapist for 6 years.

We are so excited to welcome Tammy to the Amplify Life family!

We are all back from a well-deserved break over the Christmas period, and we have some exciting news....

We have another two Occupational Therapists that have joined the Amplify Life family!

Please welcome Elizabeth & Jo! 🥳🥳🥳

Elizabeth 'Liz' - Has just finished UNI and is eager to dive into the OT world. Liz has done placements in mental health, hand therapy, and paediatric settings but is super passionate about making a difference for all individuals. Liz will be supported by our Senior Therapists for guidance, while she grows in her Occupational Therapist role. Welcome aboard Liz! 🧡

Jo- Has been working in the Disability, Aged Care and Community Sector for 9 years as a community support worker. However, progression and a career change to allied health, has allowed Jo to really dive into all things Occupational Therapy. Jo specializes in Assistive Technology and basic home modifications. Welcome aboard Jo! 💛

We are so excited to have Jo and Liz working alongside us, here at Amplify Life. As our family grows, so too does our passion and supports for our clients and connections-always.

We had our work Christmas party to see out a fabulous year. It was great to come together and meet all in person, as we all work remotely.

At Amplify Life we have recently had a number of experienced OTs join our friendly team, with a varied specialised skill set. As a result, we have immediate capacity across all areas of South East Queensland and nationally via telehealth.

If you’re looking for something super urgent before Christmas break, we may even be able to help with that. Please just give us a call or send us the completed Referral Intake Form attached and we can see what we can work out.

This week was Occupational Therapy Week! we asked our busy OT's what the most rewarding part is about being an OT and why they chose this field of work. Their replies were truly beautiful!

Our Sam:
"I have spent majority of my career working in the residential aged care sector. Whilst there, I had the pleasure of working with many clients who had dementia. I found it incredibly rewarding to hear their stories and see them light up with joy as they reminisced about their life. As a leader of a large team of therapists, I also enjoyed mentoring early career therapists. I later transitioned into working with complex clients with motor neurone disease in the
NDIS space, which solidified my passion for complex equipment prescription. Although my professional work focuses on adults, I also really enjoy giving back to my community as a scout leader. In my spare time, I love camping and helping to develop young people into well-rounded members of society."

Our Tiannah:
"I was in grade 10 picking my classes for my senior years. I always imagined that I wanted to be a teacher and there I sat with my nan seeing what my prerequisites were to get into teaching. My nan then asked me "Why don't you do Occupational Therapy?". I had no idea what this "Occupational Therapy" was, but for once I decided to take my nans advice. I commenced my Occupational Therapy degree, studying Bioscience and Human Anatomy whilst I was still in high school. I passed both of those subjects which automatically gave me a position into University once I had graduated high school. I don't think I understood what Occupational Therapy really was until my second year at University. Luckily, I enjoyed the degree!! And here I am, so grateful to be an Occupational Therapist!"

Our Kausik:
"For me Occupational Therapy is a client centered health profession aimed at promoting health and well-being through engagement and participation in occupations that are personally meaningful. This can include bushing your teeth, reading a book or learning how to drive. An OT can adapt the task or environment to enable an individual to participate in their valued occupations. For me a great leisure occupation i like to participate in is model making using train scenery and creating different scenes. Note every picture can tell a thousand words."
