Snakes can represent many things to many people. They can represent transformation and rebirth as they shed their old skins. They also represent healing. Some people use a live snake to protect their altar or place of spiritual practice.
This year ( the year of the snake ) has asked us to grow , to remove people and things that are harmful to us. We have had to also work on removing behaviours and patterns of our own making that have restricted us and caused us harm. Many of us have been inspired to change , outgrow our old skins and start anew. To transform. You may have worked on taking your past pains and sorrows and transmuting it into something creative or beautiful.
I believe many of us have also witnessed “the snakes” Those who refuse to shed their skins. Snakes can also represent people who talk with forked tongue, the ones who are there to cause harm, the ones that pretend to be something they are not. You may not see what they are up to until they strike.
Once we see what people are capable of we must move accordingly.
I place a snake figurine on my altar to remind me that growth and healing are a constant in my life. I place it there to protect me from “the snakes”. I place a snake on my altar to support me in my practice and daily learning.
As we move towards the end of the year and we reflect on our journey we might ask what aspect did I embrace or reject in regard to snake energy? Did I associate with and worship the snakes ? Did I recognise when someone was talking with a forked tongue or was I doing that ? Did I embody the healing energy ? Was I tempted to hide and pretend to be something I wasn’t. Am I willing to shed my skin to start afresh or did i resist the opportunity to do so ? Am I showing up authentically or am I showing up pretending to be someone or something that I am not.
