Getting to know your ⚡nervous system⚡ and how trauma can affect it, is important as it allows you to acknowledge and notice what's going on in your body.

Trauma prolongs the body's experience of ⚡fight/flight or freeze⚡. Once the threat is gone, your body can stay in these modes longer than needed.

Check in with your body. Ask it 'what do you need?' and try to honour what your body needs. Does it need some grounding exercises, soothing, or social connection?

With the holidays and end of year approaching, this is a gentle reminder that it's okay to feel a range of different feelings. This time of year can bring with it:

👉🏾memories of loss and loved ones.
👉🏾financial stress.
👉🏾family conflict.
👉🏾anxiety and pressure to perform.
👉🏾 loneliness.

Whatever you are feeling, it is valid. Be gentle on yourself and know that this point in time will come and then it will pass.

Hello all 🌸 updating my opening hours 🌸 I've been spending my days at an NFP organisation supporting children and young people who have experienced domestic family violence. I am learning so much and have felt so lucky to be able to hold space for these clients.

My private practice has been such a rewarding space where I have been working with young adults. 🌸My books are still open🌸 for new clients!! Please reach out via my website, email or text.

Gentle reminder of the power of gratitude. When we are deep in hard stuff, the last thing we think of doing is being grateful. Practicing a small amount of gratitude, regularly, can help strengthen the neural pathways in your brain. It then becomes easier to access the gratitude pathway, the more you practice 🌷🧠

Ins and Outs for the year - special mention to 'Looking after your nervous system'.

✨️ Polyvagal Theory✨️ has been guiding my work around regulating the nervous system. When people experience trauma, it can leave a mark on their nervous system. When triggers are experienced, they can trap you in a longer-than-usual 'fight or flight' mode or 'shut down' mode.

BUT the brain is PLASTIC (meaning it is moldable) and we are creating new neural pathways all the time! It is possible to repattern the nervous system.

Exploring different cultures is a privilege I hope to continue experiencing. This photo was taken in Osaka, Japan. The city is fast-paced. The people I encountered were very helpful and polite. Seeing other parts of the world gives me a feeling of freedom, excitement and playfulness.
