I’m back at it!
The only consistent thing about 2022 for me up until 4 weeks ago, had been my exercise routine. I even brought my weights on vacation with me to the beach! (And I then lugged said weights down the lift each morning in my hessian bag…feeling so committed!)
Then, the big “C” hit our family and the workouts ceased 😞
I believe it’s important to honour what our bodies are going through and so stopping was important.
Even after I felt much better, I allowed my body 2 extra weeks of healing and slow yoga and walking ONLY.
And then the day came to start up again.
I felt incredible in my body as I started again.
It only took 5mins before that exultation turned to gasping (it’s amazing how stamina is trained – and it can quickly go wayward – but it also returns as quickly as it leaves you so don’t let your inner voice convince you otherwise).
But I completed it!
As I have been an exerciser most of my life, it’s so vital to ask yourself “why am I doing this?” during differing seasons of your life. It changes and if we are not keeping up with who we are becoming, that’s when we can experience it as STRUGGLE!
Here’s a WHY to moving one’s body that’s often forgotten: CONFIDENCE!
And I don’t mean the kind that comes with strutting the beach in your bikini – I’m talking about that deep sense of knowing “I’ve done the work”, I’ve left sweat on the mat, I’ve moved past a point I wasn’t sure I could. These moments translate to a tangible sense of self.
As a Mama, this kind of confidence can be revealed as a powerful POSTURE in the face of the every-changing landscape of parenting.
Whether it’s the constant questioning from your kids who want things, or the planning of your family schedule or even future pacing where you want your family unit to be at in 5 years time – it takes stamina to navigate that. Posture matters!
Get that body moving, that heart pumping, that breath gasping, those muscles stretching and that confidence humming…take that first step to inner CONFIDENCE!
Struggling for movement ideas, just ask me, I’ve been at this since I was 14!
