Welcome back to our ScolioPilates guru and Physiotherapist Bianca! Bianca worked for our clinic in 2022 and 2023, she has extensive experience in scoliosis management through work with multiple scoliosis clinics and has a Masters in Scoliosis Management through ISICO, she and has been training in Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis Specific Exercise methods and we will see her in clinic over the next few weeks in preparation for her start in late October. Please consider your child taking a Vitamin D supplement for treatment of their scoliosis where below 30ng/mL, scoliosis can progress due to insufficiencies in Vitamin D, Calcium and Melatonin due to their regulation of bone mineral density, in one study, supplementation of Vitamin D (800IU/day) showed only 16.2% compression compared to 48.6% over 2 years.

Bracing for scoliosis with 3D principles, our clinic works with leading Orthotist’s in Cheneau bracing and here is an example of a brace with asymmetrical design - pressures to bring the spine into corrective movements for improved alignment in all three planes, with specific focus to reduce rotation/rib hump and offload the growth plate being compressed causing the vertebral wedging, and thus assist in modulating how the spine grows. The voids allow for spine and ribcage to mobilize through allow breathing and space for the spine to migrate in a corrective direction.

With Alfie approaching we will be keeping an eye on the conditions for tomorrow, and will most likely be closed Thursday and Friday. The decision is for the safety of staff and clients as our clinic location in Brisbane is a flood risk and we will need time to prepare the site in order to mitigate risk.
