At our Braille House with hearts full of cheer,
Writers gather from far and from near.
With a pen or in dots,
They all give their best shots,
In a contest that’s held most dear!
A fun bit of creative inspiration to get our masters of rhyme started for your Dickinson Memorial Literary Competition entry.
Braille House has been running the Dickinson Memorial Literary Competition for 12 of its 104 years now and the entries are always wonderful. This poem expresses some of the love that we have for those who participate every year, and those who are joining in for the first time.
Poems, including limericks like this one, are one of your options for our Adult, Student and People’s Choice categories, so if inspiration strikes, get involved and give it a go!
The theme for this year’s competition is Discovery, and in that spirit it’s also the chance for adults and kids to discover new skills and talents, as well as new doors to creativity that Braille literacy can open.
