Assessments

Assistance Animal Assessment

We offer in-home, in office and virtual assessments. As experts in Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) we help to truly understand how to ensure any person in receipt of NDIS funding has the best life of their choosing. Our assessments include individual observation, assessment and understanding, as well as the use of standardized assessment tools preferred by the NDIA. Our reports are tailored to deliver the best outcomes and we have a good success rate in achieving positive results. We take time to engage with all parties involved in support, including Family, Support Coordinators and Service Providers. We take a holistic approach to ensure all needs are considered. Depending on the type of the report, we may take 1-4 weeks to produce it. We will always clearly indicate the timeframes from the start. Same with the cost of the assessment, this will be provided upon booking, so there are no surprises! We are flexible, so if you have a specific requirement which doesn’t fit the mold, we can help!

When you’re navigating the NDIS, the process can feel like a lot.

Appointments. Reports. Forms. Explaining your story again and again. For participants with psychosocial support needs, it can feel even more complex.

A clear Functional Capacity Assessment can help bring the full picture together, showing how daily life is impacted and what supports may be needed.

🔸 Clear functional insight
🔸 Practical recommendations
🔸 A report that connects needs, goals and daily reality

Less confusion. More clarity. Better support for informed decisions.

If you’re preparing for a plan review or change in circumstances, the right assessment can make a real difference.

Advocating in the NDIS isn’t about saying more.

It’s about saying the right things, in the right way.

When you understand what’s been accepted, you can:
✔️ Speak more clearly about support needs
✔️ Align your requests with what the system recognises
✔️ And reduce the back-and-forth that causes elays

It doesn’t mean your full experience isn’t valid. It just means you’re working with the system in a way that helps you move forward.

And that’s where real progress starts to happen.

There’s a lot of conversation right now about NDIS budget changes, funding reviews and tighter decision-making.

For many people in the disability community, it feels unsettling. And understandably so.

When supports impact everyday life, getting safely around the home, accessing care, communicating, learning, working or living independently, uncertainty around funding can feel deeply personal.

The hard part is that outcomes aren’t always predictable. Even with strong evidence, the result may not always be what families, carers or participants were hoping for. That can feel disappointing, especially when you know how much those supports matter.

At Flexiwell, our role is not to make false promises. Our role is to help bring clarity.

We provide thoughtful, comprehensive assessments that reflect a participant’s daily function, support needs and lived experience, so families and Support Coordinators feel better equipped to understand the next steps and advocate with confidence.

In a system that can feel confusing and emotionally exhausting, clarity really matters. If you’re feeling unsure about what comes next, please know you don’t have to work it out alone.

We’re here to listen and help bring a little more clarity to the process.

One of the most important (and often missed) steps in the NDIS process is knowing what’s actually been accepted.

A participant might be living with multiple challenges, but funding will only relate to the disabilities the NDIS has recognised.

This can affect:
➡️ What supports are recommended
➡️ What gets approved
➡️ And how smoothly services are accessed

When assessments are aligned with accepted disabilities, things move more easily.

It means:
✔️ The right supports are requested
✔️ The evidence makes sense to the NDIS
✔️ And delays are less likely

Clarity here can make a real difference to outcomes.

When supporting participants with psychosocial needs, clear reporting matters.

When evidence is scattered, it can make an already complex process feel even harder.

Separate recommendations.
Missing context.
Unclear links between daily support needs and NDIS goals.

A strong Functional Capacity Assessment helps bring the full picture together in one clear, practical report.
✔️ Clear functional insight
✔️ Recommendations that reflect daily life
✔️ Evidence that supports informed decision-making

At Flexiwell, we focus on making the assessment process clearer, calmer, and more useful for participants, families, and the teams supporting them.

At Flexiwell, we know most families are not starting from scratch.

By the time they reach out, they have often already gathered provider reports, asked questions, and tried to explain what support is needed.

They know the daily reality better than anyone.
They know what is working.
They know what is becoming harder.
They know where extra support could make a practical difference.

But even with all of that effort, the information can still feel scattered.

That is where a clear OT assessment can help.

At Flexiwell, our role is to help make sense of the important information, understand the person’s functional needs, and prepare a report that reflects their daily life, support needs, and goals with clarity.

Because sometimes the next step is not gathering more paperwork. It is making sure it is analysed and presented in the right way.

We see both sides of this every day.

As an assessment provider, we work alongside people - participants, families, and Support Coordinators - who are trying to make sense of it all.

Because support should reflect real life… not just paperwork.

But the reality is, decisions can only be made based on the information provided.

That’s where a good assessment matters.

Not as a formality, but as a way to translate daily life into something the system can understand. So the outcome reflects what’s actually needed, day to day.

We know how frustrating the system can feel at times. Our role is to bring clarity into that space, so you can move forward with more confidence, and less confusion.

For many people and their families, this dream isn't something that just happens overnight.

It might look like...

🟣 A young person wanting more independence
🟣 A family starting to ask “what’s next?”
🟣 A quiet shift from “we’ve always managed” to “maybe there’s another way”

A Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessment isn’t just about whether someone can live independently. It’s about understanding what support is needed and what kind of environment makes that support work.

Because for SIL to be considered, the NDIS needs a clear picture of...

🟣 What support is required
🟣 When it’s needed (including overnight)
🟣 And why other options wouldn’t be enough

That’s where a comprehensive assessment matters. It's not to push a particular outcome, but a way to be sure that daily life is clearly understood by all.

So your decisions can be based on what’s actually needed, not just the dream.

Preparing for your FCE can feel a little uncertain, especially if you’re not sure what to share or where to start.

This process isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about helping your assessor understand your real, day-to-day experience.

👉 Take a moment beforehand to check in with your supports.
👉 What kind of assistance do you actually need, hands-on help, reminders, or encouragement to get through tasks?
👉 Be honest about what feels difficult and how it impacts your day. That clarity matters.
👉 And if your family or supports can’t be there, their perspective can still be included through a written account.

You don’t have to carry this on your own; the right information can make all the difference. 💜

Feeling nervous about your Functional Capacity Evaluation?

That’s completely normal.

Many people worry they’ll be “tested” or expected to perform.

But an FCE isn’t about pushing you, it’s about listening, observing, and understanding your real-world needs.

✔ What daily tasks feel difficult
✔ Where support is needed
✔ What would improve your independence or safety

It’s a conversation as much as it is an assessment. And when it’s done properly, it gives you a clearer path forward, not more stress.

You don’t have to prepare perfectly. Just come as you are.
