Comprehensive NDIS Functional Capacity Evaluations

NDIS SDA, SIL and ILO Assessments

Assessments

Assistance Animal Assessment

We offer in-home, in office and virtual assessments. As experts in Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) we help to truly understand how to ensure any person in receipt of NDIS funding has the best life of their choosing. Our assessments include individual observation, assessment and understanding, as well as the use of standardized assessment tools preferred by the NDIA. Our reports are tailored to deliver the best outcomes and we have a good success rate in achieving positive results. We take time to engage with all parties involved in support, including Family, Support Coordinators and Service Providers. We take a holistic approach to ensure all needs are considered. Depending on the type of the report, we may take 1-4 weeks to produce it. We will always clearly indicate the timeframes from the start. Same with the cost of the assessment, this will be provided upon booking, so there are no surprises! We are flexible, so if you have a specific requirement which doesn’t fit the mold, we can help!

At Flexiwell, we work closely with participants, families, and Support Coordinators to ensure every assessment aligns with the disabilities formally accepted by the NDIS.

🔍 Why is that so important?
Because if a support request is linked to a condition that hasn’t been accepted under access, the NDIS may not fund it, even if the need is very real.

Many families don’t realise this until a request is declined. That’s why we take the time to get it right from the beginning.

If you’re unsure what’s currently under access, your supports coordinator, LAC or Planner can assist to clarify it before the paperwork becomes overwhelming.

Clarity early on helps reduce delays, avoid confusion, and ensure your supports are properly matched to your plan.

It’s not just about ticking boxes. It’s about telling the whole story.

When a Support Coordinator recommends us for their participant’s assessment, we don’t take that lightly. They’ve seen firsthand what happens when reports fall short, when real lives get reduced to paperwork.

At Flexiwell, we write reports that honour the person, not just the policy. That means listening deeply, reflecting on lived experience, and presenting the evidence in a way the NDIS understands.

NDIS plans don’t list your accepted disabilities. But those accepted disabilities shape everything.

The support funding provided in the plan focuses on functional needs, things like how you manage daily life, move around your home, or interact with others. Those needs are based on the disabilities NDIS has formally accepted during your access process.

Here’s where it gets tricky: if you don’t know what’s been accepted, you can’t be sure the supports you’re asking for match what the NDIS sees as necessary.

💬 If you’re unsure, you can request this information directly from the NDIS. It’s okay not to know, many people don’t.

At Flexiwell, we take the time to understand not just the paperwork, but the person. Our assessments connect the dots, between what’s been accepted, what’s actually needed, and how best to support you.

Sometimes, things change. A new diagnosis. A shift in health. A new need emerging in daily life.

But here’s what many people don’t realise:
🧾 Your NDIS plan won’t automatically reflect that change.

To have new supports considered, the NDIS needs updated evidence and a formal reassessment request. It can feel like a heavy process, especially when you’re already managing so much.

At Flexiwell, we walk alongside families and Support Coordinators through these moments. Our assessments don’t just tick boxes; they carefully reflect what’s changed, why it matters, and how it impacts daily life.

📩 If something has changed and you’re not sure where to start, we’re here to help you figure it out.

We’re sorry to bring this up… but December is closer than you think. 😬🎄

Yes, we know — no one wants to hear about the end of the year creeping up. But if you're working on a matter that needs independent opinion from an Occupational Therapist, now's the time to get ahead of the rush and secure your appointment!

Why?
🔸 Offices close
🔸 Colleagues disappear on leave 🏖️
🔸 Availability tightens 📅
🔸 Reports get urgent — fast ⚡
🔸 School holidays throw out routines 🎒
🔸 And let’s be honest... you won’t find a park at the shops, let alone a free assessment slot 🅿️

Early bookings = fewer headaches later.
✅ Independent, evidence-based reports
✅ Experienced Occupational Therapists
✅ Medico-legal clarity when it counts

Public service announcement over. 🎄

Beat the bottleneck — and book before the silly season sets in.

Just because it’s in your life, doesn’t mean it’s in your plan.

NDIS doesn’t list your accepted disabilities in your plan, but those are what determines what can and can’t be funded. So if a recommendation for support doesn’t link back to your disabilities under NDIS access, it may not be approved.

That’s where a good assessment matters and why your assessments need to speak the NDIS’s language. At Flexiwell, we take time to understand your daily life, and align it clearly with what NDIS actually recognises.

You’ve done the paperwork, attended the assessments, shared your story. And then you open your new NDIS plan, and it doesn’t reflect what you or your loved one needs. It may feel disheartening and confusing.

You’re not alone and you do have options.
1️⃣ Review the decision
Look over the outcome carefully. What was declined? Are there misunderstandings? Ask a Support Coordinator or trusted person to help review if needed. You can ask for the details from your planner to explain why some things were refused.

2️⃣ Gather extra evidence
Once you know the reasons behind the missing supports, If the decision doesn’t reflect reality, more information may help. This information can include updated allied health assessments, medical reports, or letters from carers. Flexiwell's experienced Allied Health Assessors can help you understand and collate additional evidence which may support your review.

3️⃣ Request an internal review
You have 3 months to request a plan review from the NDIA. Be sure to include any new evidence that explains your situation clearly.

NDIS processes can feel overwhelming. At Flexiwell, we prepare clear, respectful assessments that help participants share their true needs. We're here if you need help gathering evidence for your review.

NDIS isn’t supposed to feel like a courtroom.

And yet, many participants and families tell us that’s exactly how it feels.

Having to explain, justify, and re-explain your reality. Worrying whether your honesty will be enough. Hoping that your words are heard, and your needs are understood.

At Flexiwell, we see you.
Our assessments aren’t just forms and checklists. They are a careful reflection of your daily life, your strengths, and the support you genuinely need, without judgment, without suspicion.

We work alongside you, not above you. Listening. Understanding. Making sure your report reflects your story, in a way that supports your funding pathway with dignity and clarity.

If you’ve felt the weight of having to ‘prove yourself’ again and again, know you don’t have to carry it alone.

NDIS evidence for psychosocial disability can be complex, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

When plan reviews or change of circumstances are approaching, having strong, clear evidence is key.

But for participants with psychosocial disability, gathering both OT and Psychology reports can feel like double the appointments, double the assessments, and double the emotional load.

That’s why Flexiwell developed the Combined Functional Capacity Assessment.

We bring together the expertise of a Clinical Psychologist and an Occupational Therapist, in one coordinated process, with one shared report.
✅ Less time retelling your story
✅ A unified clinical view of both psychological and functional needs
✅ One report with comprehensive evidence to support your NDIS journey
✅ No extra cost compared to a standard Functional Capacity Assessment

When the evidence is clear, the process is easier. Contact our team today! 📞 (07) 3532 5945 | 📧 support@flexiwell.com.au

You’ve completed the assessment. Now what?

Whether you’re the person being assessed, or the support person walking alongside them, it helps to know what comes next.

📝 After the assessment:
Your assessor considers all the information which has been collected and writes a detailed report explaining how the disability impacts daily life, and what supports might help.

It takes time to ensure the recommendations reflect your circumstances and also address the NDIS requirements. Once the first draft is developed, we will share it with you, to make sure nothing critical has been missed. Once we are ready to issue the final report, we will share it with you and any nominated parties, it is now yours to proceed as required.

At Flexiwell, we stay connected and available, helping you and your support team navigate next steps if questions arise. Contact our team today! 📞 (07) 3532 5945 | 📧 support@flexiwell.com.au
