🌱 Grounding in Wellbeing
Tools I Wish I Had Back Then 🔧
Yaama let’s be straight, for our mob, true wellbeing runs deeper than just feeling good or staying fit. It’s about balance, balance within ourselves, our families, and our communities.
It’s knowing that our spirit, our culture, our ancestors, our Country, and the connections that hold us together are the foundations of our strength.
LETS REWIND THE ⏰
Back in the day, I wish someone had handed me a few simple tools to keep that balance steady tools that reminded me that wellness isn’t a destination, it’s a practice.
Morning grounding
Start each day barefoot on Country even if it’s just grass in the backyard. Acknowledgement to those whose country you are on. Breathe deep, speak a few words to your ancestors, and set an intention.
Daily check-in
Before reacting, pause and ask, “What’s going on inside me right now?” This small moment of self-awareness can stop a bad day from spiralling. Trust me I’ve been there plenty of times 🤦🏽♂️
Movement as medicine
Whether it’s walking, dancing in the shower, or training use movement to connect body and spirit. Every step is a small ceremony.
Yarn with purpose
Make time for real conversations. Not those gammin running people down s**t convos either 🤦🏽♂️😂
Sharing stories and listening deeply strengthens our mental and emotional wellbeing.
Return to Country (in spirit or in person) Even if you can’t physically be there, speak language, sing a songline, or look to the stars. Connection is a daily practice, no it’s daily connection…
When those connections become habits, they stop us from losing our way they keep our fire lit and our purpose strong.
Eat to expect at the Barran Men’s Wellness Workshops. It provides us a chance to learn, relearn, and live these tools together not just for ourselves, but for the next generation watching how we walk.
Let’s build that strength together through connection, balance, and responsibility to each other and the stories we carry.
