Somatic simply means pertaining to the body. We travel in this life in a body so it makes sense to use practices using the body to help itself. This is a simple exercise that you might like to try to ground your nervous system for safety. If you are interested in learning more about your nervous system you might like to research the work of Stephen Porges. 🧚🏽‍♀️

Meditation is like opening a magical door to your inner world. The practice of meditation appears across many world cultures and has been around for a very very long time. You don’t need a guru or a special technique to start meditating. Techniques & intellectualizing anything to do with meditating actually involves thinking ! Meditation involves taking no thought. During meditation if you do have obtrusive & reoccurring thoughts acknowledge them and let them go. Meditation is a practice you can do daily for 5 minutes or an hour or longer, it’s up to you. Meditation requires finding time to connect with your being. Meditation can be an ‘active’ practice using ‘visualisation’ or ‘passive’ by eliminating thoughts and receiving insights & feeling connected to the universe. You can meditate by sitting in a chair on a yoga mat or in the Lotus position or on the bus. You may like to light incense or softly play soothing music of your choice in the background. If you would like to try meditating get into a comfortable position, close your eyes & focus on the rhythm of your breath, the rise and fall of your chest. Tune in and listen to the layered sounds around you and relax. Relax relax relax. Presto ! With practice you’ll be in the zone 🧚🏽‍♀️🧚🏽‍♀️🧚🏽‍♀️
