It’s a common belief that reading in dim light can permanently damage your eyes, but this isn’t true. Poor lighting might make your eyes feel tired or strained, but it doesn’t change the physical structure of your eyes or cause lasting harm.
In fact, taking simple steps like using adequate lighting and giving your eyes regular breaks can reduce fatigue and keep your vision comfortable. Temporary discomfort from squinting or eye strain won’t make your eyesight worse.
Vision changes over time are usually caused by natural ageing or underlying eye conditions — not by everyday activities like reading in low light. So, focus on keeping your eyes comfortable and healthy!
