Have you ever noticed tiny specks, cobwebs, or "strings" drifting across your field of vision? These are known as eye floaters.

While floaters are often harmless, a sudden change can indicate a retinal tear or detachment. Contact our ophthalmology practice immediately if you experience:

🔴 A sudden "shower" of many new floaters.

🔴 Flashes of light (like lightning streaks or "stars").

🔴 A dark shadow or "curtain" moving across your peripheral vision.

🔴 A sudden, unexplained blur in your sight.

Early detection is the key to protecting your vision. If you have noticed any of these changes, don't "wait and see."

As the Queensland heat begins to fade, the change in season brings unique challenges for our eyes. From the blinding low-angle sun on the M1 to the dry westerly winds, being prepared is the best way to maintain your ocular health. The Essentials:

🕶️ Polarised Sunglasses: Standard tints aren't enough for the intense, low-angle autumn sun. Polarised lenses are essential to cut horizontal glare for safer driving on the M1.

💧 Lubricating Eye Drops: Cooler air and indoor heating accelerate tear evaporation. Use preservative-free drops to combat that "gritty" seasonal feeling.

👒 Wide-Brimmed Hat: Sunglasses alone can't block all UV rays. A hat provides a vital physical barrier against overhead and side-angle sun exposure.

🌬️ Humidifier: Combat "Heater Eye" by adding moisture back into your office or bedroom. This helps maintain a stable tear film while you work or sleep.

Prioritise your vision this season. If you’re experiencing persistent dryness or glare sensitivity, it’s time for a professional assessment.

Welcome to the "Toy Room"—the high-tech heart of our clinic! 🚀👁️

While most of your exam happens in the doctor’s chair, these specialised machines are what give us the "secret blueprint" of your eyes. This isn't just cool tech; it’s how we ensure your surgery is custom-tailored to you. And believe it or not, this is only half of the tech we use to keep your vision 20/20!

Our Optometry Alignment Program officially kicks off tomorrow! We are excited to welcome the optometry community for our first session of 2026.

This clinical education evening focuses on the latest protocols for Keratoconus and Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL). As co-management becomes increasingly vital for patient outcomes, this session aims to bridge the gap between primary optometry and advanced ophthalmological intervention.

Join us as we discuss patient selection, post-operative management, and the future of ectasia stability.
