Know your anatomy!

Use this simple v***a diagram to help discover your own anatomy. This is an incredibly important part of your body that often gets ignored or forgotten about. Regular mirror checks for v***a-owners is an important exercise to ensure good v***al health.

Note that every v***a is unique as a snowflake and no two are the same. 

Did you know that when you tighten your pelvic floor muscles you might see:

- The cl****al hood nod down
- The perineal body squeeze up inside and;
- The a**s 'wink'

They should then all return to their original location when you release. Do not be disheartened if you do not see any movement initially, as this is common. Seek advice from a medical professional if you have any concerns.

Embody aims to break down any shame or taboos that come with a female looking at and admiring the wonder of their own body. You can be part of this reclamation.

Did you know that there is recent evidence for perineal massage in late pregnancy for reducing the risk of significant perineal tearing during childbirth?

Further, recent research suggests that up to 40% of women contract their pelvic floor muscles when trying to push (i.e. when muscles should be relaxing and bearing down). This may slow down second stage labour (pushing phase), increasing chances of intervention. Visual biofeedback with a mirror in late pregnancy assists in connection & control of pelvic floor muscles for confident and empowered birthing.

Wondering how to live your life truly ‘embodied?’

Here are 5 simple ways to connect your mind and body each day:

1. YOGA
One of the easiest and most practical methods of embodiment - the ultimate connection of conscious mind, body & spirit. Set aside at least 5 minutes per day to breathe and move your body intuitively without distraction.

2. SELF PLEASURE
Not limited to sexual pleasure, use all 5 senses to find pleasure in your body - taste, touch, smell, sound & sight.

3. WALK OUTSIDE
Take a moment to mindfully and intuitively walk outside each day (even if to take the rubbish out) - notice the air temperature, the sounds, the aromas & how your body is feeling.

4. BREATHE
As soon as you wake in the morning, take 5 slow deep breaths into your belly and notice how you are feeling - this will set the tone of your nervous system for the day.

5. DANCE
Put on music with a delicious beat that you can’t help but sway your hips to. Try this getting ready in the morning.
