Ovarian hormones are almost completely suppressed by combined estrogen birth control methods like the pill, patch, or ring. Case in point: if you were to test for estradiol, progesterone, or testosterone, you would find almost none. Only estradiol rises slightly during the sugar pill week.

In place of real hormones are the medications ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel (or other progestin), which are somewhat similar to real hormones but really quite different.

For those who haven’t met me yet, I am Claudia, the founder and Principal Naturopath at Peoniflora, a Brisbane based in-person and online women’s health clinic.
As a fully qualified Women’s Health Naturopath and Feminine Embodiment Coach, I am passionate about supporting, educating and empowering women to navigate their health journey to becoming the best version of themselves.

Originally from Brazil and having lived in the USA and Australia, I bring global experience with wide cultural understanding into my work and life.
As a Feminine Embodiment Coach, I take the mind-body connection to the forefront and am interested in exploring a lot more than just the person as a whole while treating the cause of health problems.
When not in clinic exploring new health solutions for clients, I can be found walking along the beach, the river or cuddled at home with a cup of tea and a craft project in hand.
