If you’ve heard the term ‘unexplained infertility’ or have suffered from repeat implantation failure- firstly, I’m so deeply sorry, secondly, this post is for you.

The reasons for recurrent implantation failure are many and varied, however, the right support team and thorough investigations can make a world of difference 🫶🏽

Allow me to formally reintroduce myself 🫶

Hi there, I’m Ellen, a degree-qualified and APHRA-registered acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to parenthood.

Utilising my additional (and continuous) formal study, I provide personalised care from preconception to postpartum. Whether you’re at the beginning of your fertility journey or right in the thick of it, my approach blends evidence-based practices with heart-led guidance, ensuring each patient receives tailored support specific to their needs. From optimising your cycle and learning your ovulation patterns through BBT charting, to supporting complex fertility and reproductive immunology challenges, you will be seen, heard and completely supported every step of the way.

I believe in exploring every avenue to uncover the root causes of fertility challenges, and firmly believe there’s no such thing as ‘unexplained infertility’ only ‘unexplored fertility’. I aim to educate and advocate for my patients to ensure no stone is left unturned for your investigations, and provide the much needed support you need to navigate the often murky waters of fertility struggles.

My patients often call me their ‘fertility cheerleader’- a big part of what I do is helping people feel safe and at home in their bodies once more (recovering that little piece of you that may have gotten lost somewhere along the way).
I absolutely love what I do, and I can’t wait for you to find out why.
From the heartache to the healing, I’m here for you.

Big love,
El x

Miscarriage. Something that’s whispered about behind closed doors, or tearfully discussed in sterile clinic rooms. Working in fertility, I feel its remiss of me to not discuss it in a factual manner, because unfortunately this can be a significant part of the fertility journey for many people. In Australia, it’s reported that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. So why aren’t we talking about this more? Why aren’t we empowering and educating women and couples to know what to do, and where to go next in these situations?

Information is power- I arm my patients with the knowledge of what additional testing can be made available to them so they feel prepared with a plan to move forward, whenever they feel ready.
No one should be made to feel dismissed or unsupported during one of the most vulnerable and heartbreaking experiences in life.

For help during the healing,
El x

I am learning to be both- the lighthouse and the sinking ship; the beacon and the wreckage.

Continuing our Mother’s Day tradition of completing the MDC walk for breast cancer and ovarian research. A dearly held tradition I had the privilege of doing every year with mum, and now continue to do without her.

My relationship with my grief is ever evolving; I can find solace in the comforting memories, but also the deepest heartache. The two are not mutually exclusive.
My heart goes out to all iterations of Mum today- those tearfully remembering their mothers that are lost, those that are agonisingly close to celebrating their first year as a mum, those desperately wishing to be a mum, and those that are able to celebrate today with their mums or their own children.
Big love 🫶🏽

Acupuncture can be a useful tool when addressing PCOS and PCOS symptoms, and may focus on:

-Improving menstrual cycles, including addressing pain that may be associated with periods, and working to support regular ovulation and cycle flow.
-Assisting to reduce inflammation within the ovaries and overall body.
-Increasing ovarian blood flow.
-Working to improve insulin sensitivity and resistance while also enhancing endocrine and metabolic functions.

The most effective outcomes often occur through a holistic approach, including dietary and exercise modifications.
These modifications may include incorporating protein, and consuming healthy fats to help stabilise blood sugar levels and mitigate symptoms; focusing on a whole-food diet - including whole grains, fruits and vegetables; prioritising water and herbal teas to increase hydration, and incorporating exercise appropriate to your abilities and needs. Your practitioner will provide an individualized approach to ensure your plan is tailored to you and your exact needs 🤍

A common perception toward self-care is that it is selfish. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Practicing self-care can also be beneficial in how you are able to help others in your life. Most importantly, it’s beneficial for how you show up for yourself.
Oftentimes, we put others’ health and happiness before our own (especially at this time of year). But self-care is the act of refocusing positive, healing energy to yourself.
This way, you are able to give back to others without completely depleting your own emotional resources
Practicing self care during the holiday period doesn’t have to be fancy. Simple ways to practice self care is boundary placing, taking time in your day for a walk, having a night in instead of a night out, or setting an achievable intention for the busiest days of your holidays, l.e ‘today I will be content with the imperfections of my day.

Self care for a better version of yourself 🤍

POV- you’ve just had a visit with your doctor to go over your bloods, only to be told that ‘everything is normal!’. You’re sent on your way with little to no resolution with the same set of symptoms that prompted your blood test in the first place 🙋🏽‍♀️

This post is not intended to vilify GP’s, they do a wonderful job of diagnosing and treating disease. However, addressing conditions and symptoms BEFORE they require medical intervention is the ultimate goal.

Your pathology results are just one piece of the puzzle that helps provide valuable insight into your overall health.
Particularly if you’re embarking on your fertility journey, trying to optimise your hormonal health or heal postpartum, we want optimal ranges for your pathology results to ensure you have the best possible outcome for your health 🤍

Natural Relief for Pelvic Pain ⚡️

🐟 Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Reduce inflammation and ease pain with foods rich in omega-3s like fish, flaxseeds, walnuts and cod liver oil. Prioritise practitioner only fish oil supplements to avoid potential harmful contaminants

🏃‍♀️ Exercise: Gentle exercises and stretches can improve circulation and strengthen the pelvic floor, helping to alleviate discomfort

⚡ TENS Machine: Using a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) unit helps to relieve pain through electrical impulses. My favourites are the Aura machine, the pain relief device and the . I prioritise a TENS machine that’s portable, rechargeable and has a variable pulse rate

🔥 Heat Application: Applying a heating pad or warm compress can help to relax muscles, improve blood flow and soothe pain.

🧘‍♀️ Acupuncture: Targets specific points during your cycle to reduce pain and inflammation and increase blood flow to the lower abdomen, while helping to aid the release of hormones and neurotransmitters for cycle regulation

🌿 Castor Oil Packs: Applying castor oil packs to the lower abdomen helps to support detoxification and reduce inflammation. Always prioritise organic castor oil and avoid using plastic to cover your hot water bottle. A helpful guide on how to use castor oil packs can be found on the website under ‘Patient Resources’.
Note: do not use castor oil packs after ovulation if trying to conceive.
