Something you may not know about disabilities… they exist across multiple dimensions, affecting individuals in different ways! Physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities differ in how they impact the body, cognition, emotions and social functioning. 🌈🦋

Physical disabilities primarily affect a persons mobility, strength, coordination or physical functioning. Sometimes these can be visible or invisible, congenital or acquired later in life due to illness, injury or age! ♿️🩼

Intellectual disabilities involve limitations in cognitive functioning and behaviours. These can include problem-solving, communication and independent living skills! The focus of support often centres around education, skill development, and community inclusion (all which we love doing here at Rainbow Butterflies). It’s all about recognising that learning occurs at different paces and through different methods. ✏️🙂

Psychosocial disabilities arise from mental health conditions that affect emotional regulation, perception, behaviour and social functioning interaction. Unlike physical disabilities, psychosocial disabilities are more often invisible. 👁️

At Rainbow Butterflies we understand that each disability presents unique strengths and challenges. We foster an inclusive, respectful and supportive environment where all individuals are valued and empowered to thrive! 🌈🦋
