⚠️ PREPARE TO TAKE SHELTER ⚠️
Issued 11am Wednesday 5 March.

We advise people on the Gold Coast to PREPARE TO TAKE SHELTER for Tropical Cyclone Alfred that is moving towards the Queensland coast.

Destructive wind gusts and significant flooding is forecast to start by 6pm today.

‼️ Everyone should take shelter at home or in a safer place by 6pm.

What you need to do:

🗺 Check the Disaster Flood Risk Map and stay up-to-date with the latest information dashboard.cityofgoldcoast.com.au. If you are in a risk area, decide now where you will take shelter.

Good afternoon, everyone. As Tropical Cyclone Alfred continues to impact our region, we want to ensure that all families and individuals have access to the most accurate and timely information.

🌬️ Key Details:

Cyclone Status: Category 2
Location: Approximately 465 km east-northeast of Brisbane
Winds: Sustained winds of 85 km/h, gusts up to 120 km/h
Forecast: Severe coastal hazards likely for southern Queensland and northern New South Wales, with powerful easterly swells, high tides, and heavy rainfall expected.
⚠️ Important Actions:

Stay updated with reliable sources, including the Bureau of Meteorology and local emergency services.

We would like to share with you the story of one of our clients with her permission. Tracey Sloss

Tracey was initially diagnosed with Choroidal Melanoma resulting in the removal of her right eye in March 2021. Leaving her with lifelong vision impairment.

Unfortunately Tracey received news at her latest review that the cancer has metastasized into 3 different areas in her body and there were no treatments available here in Australia for her.

Tracey is a valued member of the community and dedicates her professional career to helping those most in need. But now she needs our help.

There is a Go Fund Me campaign in place to help raise money for her to access the treatment she requires overseas to give her quality of life. Any donation large or small would be of help and if you are unable to donate sharing this post is just as valuable.
