SMART goals can be part of our practice. Intention informs our goal/s and vice versa. M is for measurable. We're not always measuring in tangible units, though we can time our balances and assess how close our nose is to our knees. More esoteric measurements are calmness, feeling relaxed and grounded when busy and general well-being. Namaste 🙏 🌿

Longevity: Scientists have decoded the longest humans can live, and the secret is not diet, exercise or meditation.
Summary: Resilience is the hidden currency of life. It is the body’s power to heal, recover, and adapt to stress. And up to 150 years.
Makes sense. We practise responding calmly to physical stress on our mats.

In our Yoga, we also set intentions—Sankalpa—a heartfelt vow aligned with our highest truth. Stifness: Did you know your connective tissue (fascia) gets sticky when you're dehydrated or immobile? 🕸️
Stiffness may not simply be muscular. Fascia wraps around your muscles and organs. When it’s not gliding smoothly, you feel STIFF.
💧 Drink more water.
🧘‍♂️ Move regularly through gentle Yoga flows.
🎯 Think cat-cow, sun salutations, and gentle twists to hydrate your fascia through movement.

Stiffness: Stress Makes Us Physically Tight

Ever notice how stress/nerves/anxiety makes your shoulders rise toward your ears? 😣
Stress triggers the sympathetic nervous system, causing muscles to contract and hold tension - in most of us this manifests in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. Where do YOU tend to carry tension?
✨ Meditation and breathwork calm the nervous system, dialing down or turning off the stress response and allowing your body to release.
Right now:
🧘‍♀️ Close your eyes. Inhale into your belly for 4… hold for 2... exhale for 6, releasing shoulders, face & belly. Repeat for 1-5 mins.

Stiffness: We're designed to MOVE. No surprise that a Sedentary Lifestyle = Stiff Body
Desk jobs. Long commutes. Couch time. 🪑
Modern life keeps us sitting—A LOT. But sitting shortens hip flexors, weakens glutes, and tightens the back and neck.
🌿 Yoga counteracts this:
• Hip openers like Lizard & Butterfly Pose
• Spinal twists like Supine Twist
• Chest openers like Cobra or Bridge

Let’s explore stiffness. If you wake up feeling like the Tin Man or feel tight just from sitting too long—you're not alone.
Stiffness is often caused by:
• Inactivity or long periods of sitting
• Posture misalignment
• Stress & muscle tension
• Dehydration
• Lack of mobility in joints..and YEARS of limiting your range of motion😭🧎‍♀️ which shortens muscles over time
The good news? It’s reversible and manageable. 👏
