As we head back to work and settle into the new year, here's a quick checklist to ensure a smooth and secure return to work:

- Inspect Your Workspace - Check equipment for any damage or wear after the break; Ensure fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits are in proper working condition.
- Update Safety Plans - Review emergency procedures and evacuation plans; Ensure all employees are familiar with safety protocols and reporting processes.
- Conduct Safety Training - Schedule refresher training sessions to revisit safety standards; Include training for new employees or those returning after extended leave.
- Test Safety Equipment - Ensure alarms, detectors, and safety equipment are functional; Perform a thorough test of IT systems to confirm cyber safety readiness.
- Encourage Communication - Set up channels for employees to report hazards or voice safety concerns; Foster an open culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Safety is an ongoing process, not just a one-time task so start the year strong by making safety a top priority in your organisation!

Bringing to an end our fun festive tips, here is Festive Safety Tip #6

“Keep you and your decorations safe - don’t overdo it with the plugs”

Keeping electrical safety in mind during the festive season is key to preventing fires - avoid overloading outlets by using only one plug per socket and opt for a power strip with a built-in circuit breaker to safely power your Christmas lights and decorations.

And don’t forget to turn them off when you’re not using them!
