This Mental Health Month, we are proud to share the voices of our Allied Health professionals and team members. By sharing their valuable insights and experiences, we aim to promote and elevate awareness around positive mental wellbeing.

Zac our Relationships Manager shared how physical activity and movement can promote positive mental health. Zac emphasised how regular exercising can help with positive thinking. Let's continue the ongoing conversation around mental health in order to benefit our community.

For Carers Week, we had the privilege to speak with Anne Steadman. Her journey began with her son, as she cared for him while
he faced challenges with mental health illnesses. Anne transformed her passion for her son into the starting point of her career. Anne now equips other carers in the mental health sector. With her vast lived and professional experiences, Anne has been able to help those who need it most.

Anne has spent time representing the Lived Experiences Advisory Group, and she trains other carers through educational courses. Through her professional development and her lived experiences, Anne has been able to tackle the many challenges of mental health care, such as isolation. From finding her tribe and journeying with other carers, or from practicing her own wellbeing, Anne has been able to combat the challenges that many mental health carers face each day.

Anne's advice to fellow carers is to never forget that you are not alone. Seek others like you who care for others and find your tribe; this for Anne has been particularly powerful in supporting her and in supporting others.
Let’s continue to support and appreciate the incredible work that carers like Anne do every day. Thank you, Anne, for being open and honest with us. It's carers like Anne who make a big impact in the sector every day.

This Carer's Week, we're thrilled to feature Jane, a dedicated carer in the disability sector, whose passion for making a difference is truly inspiring. During her interview, Jane shared her personal journey and the profound impact she makes in the lives of those she supports. With years of experience, Jane emphasises the importance of connection and the small, thoughtful actions that enhance the quality of life for participants and their families.

Jane's path began with volunteering for a charity focused on empowering individuals, which opened doors to working in disability care. Her story highlights the critical need for self-care, team support, and staying true to your values - whether it's through choosing the right agency or engaging in meaningful conversations with peers.

Her advice to fellow carers is both heartfelt and practical: Always bring your authentic self to work, continuously seek opportunities for self-improvement, and ensure your agency aligns with your values. A carer's role is fundamental not just for participants, but for their families too, as they provide an extension of care that deeply touches all lives involved.

Let’s continue to support and appreciate the incredible work carers like Jane do every day. Thank you, Jane, for sharing your insights and dedication with us. Together, let's make a meaningful impact in the disability sector.

At Humanity Health Group, we see every day as a day to make positive changes to the lives of the 4.4 million Australians with disability by creating opportunities for improvement in health and wellness, personal growth and inclusion.

Let's all take action this December, and all year round, to make our society more inclusive for people with disability.
