✨ Tonight, our Director and Principal Speech Pathologist, Holly from Playful Paediatrics, teamed up with Jill, Occupational Therapist from Kids Matters, to deliver a free parent information evening at Yeronga Park Kindy! Parents were lucky to be joined by the amazing team of dedicated educators!

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local families and educators and share simple, practical strategies to support children’s development both at home and in early learning environments 💛

Speech therapy isn’t limited to clinics — some of the most powerful learning happens right where kids play 🌿🪣

This moment in the sandpit was filled with imagination and creativity to support language stimulation, speech sounds, and friendship skill modelling. By embedding support in a child’s everyday environment, we help make communication skills meaningful and lasting 💬✨

We also love sharing these moments with educators, giving them practical strategies they can use daily — because early learning teams are key partners in a child’s development and can continue supporting outside if sessions 💡

‼️ Unfortunately, the recent reduction in NDIS travel rates makes it harder for therapists to provide this kind of community-based support. It’s disappointing to see funding move away from flexible, meaningful services that meet children where they are. Wasn’t that the point to begin with?! 🤔

Still, we’re committed to showing up for our communities ❤️

There are a few things I really wish every parent knew about communication development…

✨ It’s not your fault if your child has communication challenges
❤️ What matters most is connection—not perfect speech
🧸 You don’t need fancy toys. Just time, play, and everyday moments
🤔 And if you’re ever unsure, it’s always okay to ask for help

Before asking kids to sort recyclables, let’s make sure they know the words! 💡 Teach key terms like reduce, reuse, recycle, compost, landfill, plastic, glass, cardboard, metal in a fun, hands-on way! 🏗️🔄

Try it: Grab some household items and sort them together! Talk about where cardboard goes, why plastic can be tricky, and how glass gets reused.

When kids understand the words, they understand the why—and that’s when real learning happens!

⭐️ A couple of weeks ago, Vivienne and Sarah from started our year of collaborative team learning off with their presentation on How to be a Sensory Detective!

🌈How great - We learned so much about our own sensory needs and how to identify needs of the children we support 😊
