✨ February Meeting Update ✨
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for a morning of meaningful conversation, collaboration and connection. 💛
We extend our sincere thanks to Jess Holman (Department of Education) for delivering a powerful Acknowledgement of Country through the lens of young people and their connection to Country. Jess spoke about the importance of genuine collaboration - grounded in lived experience, strong working frameworks, and cross-sector partnerships.
Jess also shared valuable insights into how families can engage a Family Support Coordinator within the Department of Education to:
• Support school attendance
• Reduce risk and strengthen protective supports
• Access soft referral pathways
• Remove shame and barriers
• Receive help with literacy, paperwork, orientation and expectations
• Build community connections
• Navigate geographical and environmental challenges
Her personal reflections from allied health and government roles highlighted how positive change and understanding family environments can make a lasting impact.
We acknowledge and thank outgoing contributing committee members Lauren, Dave and Jim, and warmly welcome our current committee.
Leigh from Metro South provided an update on outcomes, initiatives and projects emerging from strong Network relationships - particularly exploring improved health outcomes within SIL housing.
A big thank you to Chris from for sponsoring morning tea and cake ☕🍰 - creating space for peer support, relationship building and strengthening a resilient Redlands disability sector. If you’d like to sponsor a future morning tea and experience collaboration in action, please reach out to Mel.
📅 Meeting dates for the year have now been secured to support forward planning, professional development, peer connection and adapting to rapid sector changes. We’re committed to ensuring your voice contributes to improving the lives of vulnerable members of our community.
Thank you for being part of a network that continues to grow stronger together. 💛
