Scarring is a natural part of surgical recovery. While scars can fade over time, it’s important to understand that factors such as genetics, age, skin type and body location all play a role in how they heal.

With the right care, many patients find their scars become less noticeable over time - but setting realistic expectations is key.

Dr Paul Belt provides personalised scar care guidance as part of post-operative support. This may include taping, topical creams and protecting healing skin from sun exposure. Clear guidance and transparency are part of Dr Belt’s approach to helping patients feel informed and confident throughout their recovery.

Some individuals choose to undergo breast augmentation as part of their personal goals around body shape or proportion.

In this case, the patient underwent breast augmentation through an incision under the breast, with implants placed beneath the muscle. Anatomical (teardrop-shaped) silicone gel implants were used – specifically, Mentor CPG 332, 350cc in volume. The patient’s bra size changed from an A to a D cup.

These images were taken 5 months apart and show one individual’s healing progression.

Planning travel after surgery? It’s important to understand how timing can influence your recovery.

Air travel too soon after surgery may increase the risk of complications such as swelling, blood clots (DVT) , or delayed healing. That’s why rest and follow-up care should be considered before booking a flight.

For interstate and international patients, Dr. Paul Belt helps to provide estimated recovery timelines and guidance to help support your journey home.

Non-surgical options may offer subtle improvements, but they’re not designed to replace structural changes achieved through surgery.

The right choice depends on your anatomy, goals, and long-term expectations - not trends. Dr Belt provides personalised guidance to help you understand your options and make informed decisions.

Considering cosmetic surgery in your 50s or beyond? Here's what to keep in mind.

Age does not exclude you from exploring cosmetic procedures, but it does shift the conversation.

Patients over 50 may face different considerations, such as reduced skin elasticity, a slower healing process, or pre-existing health conditions that require more detailed planning. That’s why a tailored, one-on-one consultation matters more than ever.

Dr Belt approaches each patient as an individual. Your health history, goals, and expectations all contribute to a carefully considered recommendation – not a one-size-fits-all approach. The goal is always to support safe, well-informed decisions with outcomes that suit you.

Thinking about next steps? A conversation with a Specialist Plastic Surgeon is a good place to start.
