Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

We come together to remember lives lost to su***de, support those impacted and work to create change.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Su***de”, challenges us to transform how we think and talk about su***de. It’s a call to shift from silence and stigma to openness, empathy and action, to ensure those who are struggling feel heard, supported, and connected.

It's important because:

🔹 More than 3,000 Australians died by su***de in 2022
🔹 Over 7 million Australian adults are close to someone who has died by su***de or attempted su***de.
🔹1 in 2 young people are impacted by su***de by age 25.

Together, we can help create a future where more lives are saved and more stories are shared.

Leading up to R U OK? Day, our Dalby team have joined the local event by decorating a pair of boots - Tending the Garden of the Mind🌱

"This pair of gumboots is a metaphor for mental wellbeing. Each boot cradles a flowering pot plant, symbolising growth, resilience, and the nurturing of one’s inner world.

The gumboots themselves represent the idea of not getting stuck in the mud, both literally and figuratively. In life, we often face challenges that can feel heavy or immobilising. These boots remind us that with the right tools and mindset, we can keep moving forward, even though it can be difficult. 💙

The garden tools and foliage on the boots remind us of the concept of tending to the “garden of the mind.” Just as a garden requires care, attention, and the right conditions to flourish, so too does our mental health. The flowering plants emerging from the boots are a visual celebration of what can bloom when we invest in our wellbeing. 💚

This artwork is to encourage us to care for our mental health through everyday strategies: getting enough sleep, connecting with others, reaching out for support, engaging in physical activity, and practising mindfulness. Each of these actions is like watering, pruning, or fertilising the soil of our minds. These are great steps to take to grow emotional resilience and personal growth." - shared by Di Alderton, author of this artwork

🤔Did you know that Gambling Harm starts early?

A recent study on Youth Gambling, led by Prof Nerilee Hing at CQUniversity, shows that gambling-related harm often begins in adolescence and can continue into adulthood.

The research provides valuable insights into young people’s gambling behaviours and highlights what we can do to make a difference. Read the full report here https://buff.ly/Jpt8rZk

Lives Lived Well delivers free gambling screening and harm reduction training sessions, fully funded by the DJAG. For more details, email Georgia.Dellosa@liveslivedwell.org.au or gambling@liveslivedwell.org.au

Today, we celebrate International Day of Charity (5 September)! 💙

Charitable efforts shape public policy, drive innovation and strengthen communities. At Lives Lived Well, we’re proud to play our part, helping ensure everyone has access to the healthcare and support they need, no matter who they are.

On this day, we want to thank our funders, stakeholders, staff and clients for trusting us with the mission: With the right support, people can change their lives.

For us, it’s not just about what we do; it’s how we do it, guided by our four core values:
💚We are humble, human and full of hope.
🙋We show up and share.
🤔We ask, “Why not?” and “What’s next?”
👣We leave a positive wake.

We believe it takes a community of support to help others and together we turn hope into action.

After arriving at our Logan Family Recovery feeling broken and overwhelmed, one participant shared how they found strength, support, and a way forward. 💚

“I felt safe. I felt seen. And slowly, I started to feel like myself again.”

As this participant packed their bags after completing the program, they reflected:

"Tonight isn’t the end of my story, it’s the beginning."

With tears of joy on their final night, they left with strength, hope, and belief in a better future.

At Lives Lived Well we're hopeful, and these powerful journeys reinforce our belief in what’s possible. 💙

We're honoured to be chosen to provide community-based alcohol and other drug (AOD) services throughout the Darling Downs. This funding strengthens our ability to deepen local partnerships and offer care that’s easy to access, culturally responsive, and centred on early support—ensuring people receive the help they need, right where they live, when it matters most.

The PHN has announced two new providers to deliver alcohol and other drug treatment services in the Darling Downs and West Moreton region.

The renewed program is focused on community-based support services that ensure services are widely and equitably available to those experiencing drug and alcohol misuse.

For Darling Downs, Lives Lived Well has been selected as a provider with an established service presence in the region.

For West Moreton, QuIHN was the chosen provider, with an innovative approach focused on harm reduction, underpinned by evidenced based frameworks and collaborative peer and clinical-led treatment approaches.

Today, we pause to mark International Overdose Awareness Day (31 August).

We understand this day can be heavy and emotional for many, and we want you to know — you are not alone.

The year's theme, "One big family, driven by hope" reminds us to come together and remember, hold space for love and loss, and find strength in our hope for change.

Our teams across Lives Lived Well have been out in the community this week, connecting, remembering, and sharing ways we can support one another. Together we can .
