Did you know adult women of all ages should check their breasts at least once a month? This is so you can become familiar with the way your breasts look and feel normally, so you're better able to identify any changes or abnormalities.

Things to look out for:

👉 hard lumps
👉 sunken ni**le
👉 growing veins
👉 new fluid
👉 a thick area

Breasts will change depending on a women’s cycle, which is why it is encouraged to check at the same time every month. Be breast care aware. 💗 For more information and resources, head tohttps://mater.li/breast-cancer-services

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month! It's important to protect yourself online and secure your devices and accounts from cyber threats. Here are a few simple steps you can take to stay cyber safe:

✅ Use strong, unique passwords (think random words, not pets' names 🐶)
✅ Always turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA)
✅ Be cautious with suspicious emails and links
✅ Install all software updates to keep your devices secure

Cyber safety starts with everyday habits. How strong is your password?

Mater cancer specialists are warning Australian women that complacency kills, with new figures revealing that almost one in two are skipping free breast screening appointments.

Mater patient and mother of six Lucinda Nelson said a mammogram saved her life, after a 3.5 centimetre tumour was detected deep in her chest cavity close to a muscle.

“I was extremely fit and had just run a 50km ultra-marathon. I also do monthly breast checks and had no symptoms or lumps that I could feel,” the mum-of-six said.

Last week, Mater Private Hospital Redland marked 25 years of care and community. 💙

From a beautiful chapel service with Father Ignas, to cake cutting with the much-loved Sister Marcia, and a “Comfortable Cup of Tea” session on mindfulness with our Mission Team, it was a morning filled with reflection, gratitude and joy.

Here’s to 25 years and to many more ahead! ✨

Our Story

Mater is guided by the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy who first established Mater in 1906 when they built the first Mater Private Hospital. This was the start of a tradition of care and compassion for the sick and needy that continues to inspire us today.

Mater Group was formed in 2016 by aligning Mater Health, Mater Education, Mater Research and Mater Foundation under a single, unified banner. It has enabled us to combine our services and skills across Mater's ministries to deliver innovative solutions and take new opportunities as we adapt to the changing needs of our community. An entirely privately owned and operated charitable company, Mater remains committed to its Mission and reinvests any revenue from the business back into the provision of health services for the community.
