Love bombing is a sneaky way for someone to bypass our natural instincts when we are meeting new people and working out our inner signals if they are right for us.

Confusing and manipulating at it's core, hidden by the cloak of deep connection.
Have a read if you recognise your own experiences, or to learn how to trust your 'spidey senses' when all does not feel right...

Negative thoughts can be uncomfortable and really impact our quality of life.
These thoughts are particularly harmful when they are about ourselves or the people we have relationships with.

We’ve all been there and you will have your own ways to shift the negative thoughts, here are some prompts to ways others find helpful to challenge / swap the uncomfortable thinking into a more helpful mindset..

👉🏼 What would I say to a friend who was thinking this way? (Usually more compassion is involved!)

👉🏼 Am I making assumptions based on other experiences? (Probs)

👉🏼 Will this matter 6 months from now? (Don’t sweat the small stuff vibes)

👉🏼 What are other possible outcomes? (Not as catastrophic as you may be thinking)

👉🏼 Is there another way to look at it? (Multiple perspectives- from other’s positions)

👉🏼 Is there evidence for or against this thought? (Some cognitive dissonance on the situation)

Don’t get stuck in the doom spiral, try to challenge your mindset if you can.. it may be enough sometimes 🌼

Yes! And the mirage of ‘perfect’ creates a juggernaut of industries to sell you ways to be closer to perfect which you do not need to subscribe as we all know, it’s an inside job x

When you find yourself struggling throughout the day, these are some gentle supports we can try to bring ourselves back to a better sense of balance.

Do one, do all - take the one's you need.

And remember, if today has been hard. This is temporary. Support is available and you are stronger than you may remember you are right now.

Reach out if you need, booking link is in bio x

Don't let those unhelpful, ruminating negative thoughts take you down the spiral of doom!

Try some of these personal check-ins to see if you can shift the neural pathways and disrupt the unpleasant feelings that go with the initial thoughts.
Self-soothing by reframing your thoughts can be a great in-the-moment regulator.

Here's some of the reasons why couples invest in their relationship and dedicate the time to 'iron out' the challenges and find new ways to communicate their needs in a safe and transparent way.

Jenny Carter - M.Couns (QUT), BHSC

Jenny is a counsellor who works with a social constructionist lens in a strengths based way. Basically, this means Jenny appreciates every individual is so different therefore there is no one-size-fits-all approach in her clinic! It’s all about you and your story. Jenny’s role is to help you feel empowered to be the narrator in your own story - and rewrite it - if you need.

Jenny provides support for all individuals, especially those with anxiety, high sensitivity and self-esteem worries.

All consultations are currently online with the current isolating recommendations. Zoom is the preferred method used by Jenny. Hopefully in-clinic sessions will resume in June.

Private health rebates are available if your cover includes counselling services. Jenny’s codes will be provided on your paid receipt. Currently rebates are available for: Medibank Private, BUPA & Police Health.
