🌧️ Wet weather = watch out for locusts 🚨

Recent wet weather has provided ideal conditions for locust breeding across parts of Qld.

We’re encouraging graziers and landholders to take proactive steps now to manage the risk of locust outbreaks.

You have a general biosecurity obligation to minimise the risk of locust populations building up on your land.

✅ Early and proactive spraying of nymphs can help protect pastures and crops from damage and reduce the chance of locust swarms forming.

If you find large numbers of locust or nymph activity:
📞 Call Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23
💻 Report outbreaks to Biosecurity Queensland through the ‘Locust sightings form’: https://okt.to/86TEYA

R U OK? is calling on people living in remote or rural communities to ask R U OK? Any Day because meaningful conversations can - and do - change lives.

The reminder comes as new research has revealed a confidence gap when it comes to having meaningful R U OK? conversations.

🌾 Connecting City to Country, One Story at a Time 🌾

If there’s one thing EKKA reminds us of, it’s this: authentic voices matter. And there’s no better voice for Queensland agriculture than a farmer’s.

At the EKKA, that truth comes alive. A simple conversation with a producer can spark understanding, shift perceptions, and connect city to country in powerful ways. From learning that bread starts in a grain field, wool in a shearing shed, or beef in a family grazing enterprise, visitors walk away with a new appreciation for where their food and fibre come from.

👉 It’s not just about commodities. It’s about people.
👉 It’s not statistics or slogans. It’s real stories.
👉 And it’s not just an exhibition. It’s a bridge between urban lives and rural livelihoods.

The EKKA shows us the strength of storytelling, building trust, closing the gap, and inspiring the next generation to understand agriculture as part of their everyday lives.

Because when a farmer shares their story, the public listens. And that’s how we change hearts and minds.
One story, one conversation, one show at a time.

✨ AgForce at EKKA 2025 is done and what an incredible opportunity it’s been to share our stories, showcase our industries, and connect with Queenslanders from every walk of life.

"If there’s one thing I’ve become more certain of over the years even while so much around us is changing - it’s that authentic voices matter.

There’s no better spokesperson for Queensland agriculture than a farmer. This has been highlighted for me once again at the great uniter of city and country - the Royal Queensland Show."

Keep an eye out for locusts! 🔎

Seasonal conditions have created the potential for the first locust plague in Qld for more than 20 years 🦗

Vigilance and early control intervention are critical to preventing locust populations from reaching plague proportions.
