Appreciation Post!

There’s something deeply humbling about being seen and acknowledged as a business.

Attending the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s corporate Christmas dinner and finding this place card waiting for us was one of those quiet moments that landed with deep gratitude and appreciation. A small gesture, yes, but one that carried recognition, respect, and a genuine sense of belonging.

Building a heart-led business isn’t always loud or visible. Sometimes it looks like this: meaningful conversation, thoughtful hospitality, and a seat at the table among others.

2025 has been a very special year, and I’m deeply grateful for where this journey continues to unfold.

Thank you for such a beautiful and celebratory evening, we truly had a wonderful time.

Congratulations to our wonderful Ormeau (Gold Coast) HICAT students who have officially completed the Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy Practitioner Training Program.

It has been an absolute privilege to support and guide this group over the past six months. There was courage in the sharing, depth in the reflections, and genuine transformation along the way.

Together, we explored healing and growth through art, creativity, and holistic practices using these tools not just as techniques, but as pathways to deeper connection with self and others.

I have no doubt each graduate will make a meaningful impact into the world in their own way.

So proud of you all!

Happy Graduation Day!

What an extraordinary six-month journey it has been with this incredible group of humans (HICAT - Northgate) who chose to dive deep into the art of expression through painting, drawing, sculpture, drama, dance, creative writing, role play, sound healing, and so much more.

Throughout the training, every student has explored these processes on themselves first. This is deliberate and powerful.

By experiencing each activity personally - the breakthroughs, the emotions, the insights, the resistance, the joy - they now carry first-hand understanding of how to guide, support, and hold space for others as professional HICAT practitioners.

And my goodness… the transformation has been profound.
We’ve laughed, cried, created, unravelled, rebuilt, reflected, witnessed, encouraged, and held each other with so much respect and heart.

Friendships formed.
Confidence bloomed.
Inner worlds shifted.
And watching every single person rise into their gifts has been nothing short of inspiring.

It has truly been an honour to facilitate this group.

A special acknowledgement to our assistant teacher, Liz whose steady support held not only me, but the entire class. She showed up with integrity, enthusiasm, and care every single week. We are grateful for you.

These are the beautiful moments captured from graduation day.

Love, Sanya 🩷

There’s something sacred about slowing down with good people, fresh air, and a blank page.

A few of us met at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens simply to create, breathe, and enjoy each other’s company. No structure, no rush, no pressure… just the gentle rhythm of nature and the joy of making art together.

These are the moments that reset the nervous system and remind us how healing simple togetherness can be.

Absolutely loved this day!

No matter how much you grow, heal, evolve, or rise… you will always remain your most important project. Life doesn’t hand out perfect timelines. Some seasons ask you to slow down, some push you to expand, and some simply ask you to begin again.

When you feel yourself drifting, pause. Breathe. Reset. Refocus. You’re allowed to restart as many times as you need. What matters is that you keep choosing yourself, keep returning to your centre, and keep holding the vision of who you’re becoming. You are worth every minute of the work.

The Inner Child

Reconnecting with your inner child can be one of the most beautiful parts of healing. It’s like remembering who you were before the world told you to toughen up — the part of you that still knows how to love freely, laugh easily, and create without worrying if it’s “good enough.”

When you begin to meet your inner child with kindness, you start trusting yourself again. You stop needing everything to be perfect and begin to find joy in the little things — play, rest, connection, creativity. It’s about letting yourself be real, not polished.

Inner child work invites softness back into your life. It reminds you that vulnerability isn’t weakness, and that fun, silliness, and self-compassion are forms of strength. Healing doesn’t always have to be hard — sometimes, it’s simply remembering the parts of you that still know how to be open and have fun.

🌿 The Power of the Vagus Nerve 🌿

Your vagus nerve is like your body’s calm button. It connects your brain to your heart, lungs, and gut and plays a major role in how you regulate stress, emotions, and overall wellbeing.

When it’s strong and responsive, your body moves easily between stress and relaxation.
When it’s weakened (often from chronic stress, trauma, or burnout), you might notice things like:
💭 anxiety or overthinking
💤 poor sleep
🌸 digestive discomfort
😞 feeling disconnected or emotionally flat

The good news is you can train your vagus nerve.
Here are simple ways to strengthen it and reawaken your natural calm:
❄️ Cold therapy — finish your shower cold or splash cold water on your face
🎶 Humming, singing, or gargling — vibration stimulates the nerve
💆‍♀️ Massage — especially the neck, ears, and abdomen
🧘‍♀️ Deep, slow breathing — particularly exhaling longer than you inhale
🌳 Grounding in nature and gentle movement
🙏 Prayer, gratitude, or mindfulness practices
🥶 Cryotherapy or ice packs on the chest for a few seconds
🍋 Staying hydrated and eating slowly to support digestion
💗 Genuine connection and laughter — social engagement directly activates it

These small daily acts signal safety to your nervous system and whisper:
“It’s okay to relax.”

Your vagus nerve is listening. Start with one practice today and feel your calm return.

🎭 The Art of Mask Making – A Journey of Self-Discovery

In our HICAT course, students create a mask that represents their best self — the version of them that shines from within.

The art of mask making is a powerful creative process that allows deep self-reflection, emotional expression, and transformation. Through this activity, we explore the different parts of ourselves — what we show to the world, what we keep hidden, and the strengths waiting to be revealed.

This process is especially beneficial for conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and low self-esteem. It encourages mindfulness, builds self-awareness, and helps release emotions that words alone can’t express.

Students often describe the experience as liberating, grounding, and profoundly healing — walking away with a renewed sense of clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. 💫

When you slow down, you’re not doing nothing, you’re regulating.

You’re showing your nervous system that it doesn’t have to live in survival mode all the time.
Rest is how we rebuild safety. 🌿

A Regulated Nervous System Changes Everything

We are, at our core, nervous systems walking around, carried by a brainstem and a mind full of beliefs, both serving and non-serving.

One of the most profound truths I’ve witnessed is this:
a supported and regulated nervous system can transform a person’s life.

When the nervous system is calm and balanced:
• Our responses shift from reactive to grounded.
• Our thoughts become clearer and more aligned.
• Our choices come from wisdom rather than survival.

Because the nervous system runs through every cell of the body, regulation doesn’t just feel better emotionally, it alters us on a cellular level. Over time, as cells regenerate, we begin to embody a new version of ourselves: calmer, clearer, and more connected.

This transformation isn’t about rejecting who we are now. It’s about consciously nurturing a system that allows the best of us to come forward. And the changes can be visible. A body carrying chronic stress and high cortisol may hold weight differently, sleep differently, and process life differently than a body that feels safe and supported.

That’s why you often see someone return from holiday lighter, not just in spirit, but sometimes in body, their system finally given permission to relax.

Stress pushes us into fight-or-flight, where survival shapes our decisions. But regulation invites us back into flow, where better choices for our health, relationships, and future - naturally arise.

This is the work. This is the practice. When you regulate your nervous system, you recreate yourself from the inside out.
