This World Mental Health Day, and Queensland Mental Health Week, the AMA Queensland Foundation is today launching our annual Christmas appeal.

This year we are raising funds to support mental health and su***de prevention. Raising awareness and supporting critical services that help Queenslanders experiencing mental ill-health or at increased risk of su***de or self-harm.

Our target is $50,000, and with your help we can offer meaningful support to those individuals in greatest need.

AMA Queensland welcomes the appointment of Dr Marianne Gale to the role of Queensland's Chief Health Officer.

Dr Gale is a highly regarded public health expert who provided strong leadership for NSW as Deputy CHO during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that she began her career at Townsville Hospital, we're excited to welcome Dr Gale back to Queensland to put her stamp on public health here.

We've just come through our worst flu season since before the pandemic, and disinformation and misinformation about vaccinations, fluoride, paracetamol and more is rife.

Our public health measures must be informed by clear, evidence-backed science, and we are ready to work with Dr Gale to get the best health outcomes for all Queenslong othersanders. 🤝💪

✈️🇨🇦 Annual Conference highlight: live NeuroCatch® brain scanning in action 🧠🤯 Today’s offsite session delegates had the rare opportunity to witness cutting-edge neuroscience in practice...

🔬 Dr Ryan D’Arcy and the HealthTech Connex team conducted a live NeuroCatch® scan on a delegate, showing in real time how photobiomodulation (red light therapy) can influence brain function and performance.

💡 While the scan was underway, other delegates experienced red light or Shiftwave nervous system rebalancing sessions, providing a firsthand look at the innovative potential of these therapies in supporting cognitive health and wellbeing.

📍 The session took place at the multibillion dollar Health & Technology District in Surrey, British Columbia. It is a world-class innovation hub that brings together clinicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to collaborate on advancing health and life sciences. With more than 220 life-science companies and health-care institutions, the District is at the forefront of translating research into real-world impact.

This immersive experience brought science, technology and medicine together in a powerful way. Thank you to the team who hosted us, it was a truly unique highlight of our conference!
