‘Even though postpartum psychosis is rare, I have still found lots of comfort and healing talking with other mums in the community about their experiences, struggles and joys’ – Emily Chamberlain

Today is about Post-Partum Psychosis, sponsored by PANDA

Post-partum psychosis is a serious mental health emergency that requires immediate help. It’s a medical condition, not a personal failing, and it can happen to anyone.

Post-partum psychosis is a severe condition that can involve hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, and a dramatic shift in mood. It is not the same as postpartum depression and requires immediate medical intervention.

If you or someone you know is showing these signs, it is an emergency. Getting immediate medical care can save lives. This is a treatable illness, and acting quickly is what's needed for a life-saving response.

Awareness is critical to ensure that those affected can receive the urgent, life-saving care they need without hesitation or shame.

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of post-partum psychosis, please seek emergency medical attention. For additional resources and support, visit pmhweek.org.au, , and peachtree.org.au.

‘I reached out for ForWhen at one of the darkest points of my life, and I don't know where I would be without them. As soon as I began speaking to one of their Navigators, I felt an enormous weight lifted’ – Lauchlan Craig

Today is about Pre-Mature Babies, sponsored by ForWhen

The unexpected journey of welcoming a premature baby can be a traumatic experience for the entire family. For both parents, the sudden shift from a normal pregnancy to the NICU is incredibly stressful. Fathers often feel the dual pressure of needing to be a rock for their partner while feeling helpless themselves. The NICU environment, medical uncertainty, and feelings of powerlessness can bring significant stress to everyone involved.

Your trauma is real, and it’s okay to feel this way and to acknowledge that this is an incredibly difficult time. As a family, your emotional well-being is just as important as your baby’s physical health. Both of you need care and support to navigate this challenging period.

There are specific resources for parents of premature babies. You both deserve to get what you need, when you need it, and to feel supported every step of the way.

Find the help you need, by visiting pmhweek.org.au, , and peachtree.org.au.

‘Sharing your birth and parenting story is important for all parents. But for multiple birth parents, to be a part of a community who can appreciate the details of your story and say “me too” is a huge comfort. It helps combat isolation, loneliness and postpartum depression’ – Laura Wilson

Today is about Multiple Births, isolation and finding your community, sponsored by The Australian Multiple Birth Association

Welcoming multiples into your family is a joyful but incredibly demanding journey. Your day-to-day priorities become feeding and getting enough sleep, and it can feel impossible to leave the house or connect with others.

The challenges you face as a parent of multiples are different from those of single-birth parents. In fact, parents of multiples are significantly more likely to experience mental health challenges and disabling exhaustion in the first year.

The feelings of loneliness are valid. The logistics of caring for multiples can be overwhelming, and it's okay to feel like you're struggling to get out and connect.

AMBA's philosophy is "support from those who know", and connecting with your tribe can offer you a safe space to find friendship and get the specific, tailored support you need.

Visit pmhweek.org.au , , and peachtree.org.au to connect with others who understand your journey.

‘I used to think being stressed meant I was failing as a dad. Now I know it just means I am human. Life with kids will always be messy, but it is how we manage the pressure that makes the difference’ – Arran MacDougall

New dads and partners, this one's for you, sponsored by Healthy Male

The expectation to be a provider and a source of strength can be immense. It's easy to feel like you have to have all the answers and never show a sign of struggle, but that pressure can take a serious toll on your mental health. It's time to break the silence and get what you need, when you need it.

Your well-being is just as important as everyone else's, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There are resources specifically designed for fathers and partners.

If you're a father, know that help is available. If you know a father, check in on him. This is how we work together to ensure everyone gets what they need, exactly when they need it.

Fathers and partners, you are not alone.

Find the specific support you need by visiting pmhweek.org.au , , and peachtree.org.au to see our Dad's Branch support resources.
