THANK YOU, NIGEL!

CitizenGO mobilised earlier this week to target those LNP politicians in Queensland who had declared themselves as pro-life previously in the hope we could get them to cross the floor to life the draconian gag on parliamentary debate on abortion.

Within 24 hours, almost 6,000 of our members had petitioned Premier David Crisafulli and 17 of his MPs to end the gag.
While the vote was lost and the gag still remains, the power of our co-ordinated action was evident with one of the 17 MPs, Nigel Dalton (the first-term Member for Mackay) crossing the floor.
We thank Nigel for his courage and commitment to life.

CitizenGO weren't the only ones in the fight. Leading the charge was Joanna Howe, along with Cherish Life, Australian Family Association, FamilyVoice Australia, Australian Christian Lobby and many others.

While this is not a win, it is a step forward for the pro-life movement.

We will not back down.

We will keep going.

We will ensure abortion, which is the taking of innocent human life, is pared back, state by state, right across this nation.

Cherish Life Queensland President, Matt Cliff, caught up with Robbie Katter MP after all but one LNP Member voted against allowing him to move a motion to debate Premier David Crisafulli's gag order on pro-lifers.

We thank Robbie Katter for being a consistent advocate for the pro-life cause, and commend Nigel Dalton MP for being the only Member of his Party to vote to allow the motion to be debated.

This was Dr Joanna Howe and Matt Cliff's reaction after watching Nigel Dalton MP cross the floor, breaking with his Party to support life.

In 2024, the LNP voted to impose a gag order on pro-lifers, ruling out of order any discussion of amending or overturning Queensland's extreme abortion laws. Today, Nigel was the only LNP MP to vote to allow Robbie Katter MP's motion without notice to overturn the gag order.
