Price Increase and Cancellation Policy

This year marks three years of being in business for me, with the last two years being exceptionally difficult due to COVID. Due to this, I have had to make some necessary changes concerning the financial side of TRU Massage. These include a slight price increase for services, the introduction of cancellation fees, and online bookings being paid in advance.

I have resisted making these changes for as long as possible both to keep myself in competition with other massage therapists, but also because I recognise that the past two years have been financially difficult for many of my clients. To that end, I have tried to keep the changes as minimal as possible, and mainly focusing on one key area.

On average, my usual week contains up to five cancellations from clients with very little advance notice. As I do not currently have a cancellation policy in place, this has led to a substantial loss of income that seems to have been growing over the past months. While some cancellations have been for very good reasons – sickness, hospitalisation, etc. – the majority are simply due to change of mind, double-bookings, or the client becoming uncontactable.

Due to this situation, I will be putting a cancellation policy in place on the 1st of March. This policy will be at my discretion and will be operated on a case-by-case basis based on a client’s history of cancellations. Repeated cancellations with no notice or no valid reason will result in a client needing to pay for an appointment in advance, with part of that fee not being refunded if the client should cancel that appointment under similar circumstances. That non-refundable portion of the fee will depend on the notice given, and the client’s attendance history. Obviously, life happens, and there are many reasons why an appointment would have to be cancelled at the last minute. This is why the cancellation policy will be at my discretion, and clients can always contact me if they have any concerns.

The second, somewhat less drastic, change is that a 2% surcharge will be in place from March when making a booking online. This is a third-party website setting that comes into place as I start using the website to receive payments. A price increase of $5 per appointment will also come into effect on the 1st of March. A more detailed breakdown of this can be found below. This will be my first price increase since opening my business in 2019.

All of the housekeeping aside, my business is my livelihood, but it’s also something I really enjoy. I have been very lucky to spend the last decade of my life genuinely enjoying what I’m doing, and the nature of having a mobile business is that I get to meet and treat a wide variety of people. Without my clients, TRU Massage wouldn’t exist, and I’m extremely grateful for the support you have given me over the last three years. I look forward to seeing everyone again in the years to come.

Hi guys,

Looks like we will find out our fate tomorrow morning. Whether our lock down will extend or not.

As per normal what is classed as a essential worker hasn’t been made clear.
Last lock down we had to close, now non-therapeutic massage must close but registered health practitioner or qualified massage therapist can practice.

I decided to close for this 3-day lock down due to this uncertainty and concerns of potential fines.

‘Those found to be breaching a public health order face a $13,345 fine and in serious cases, six months behind bars.’

If we continue to be locked down, I will only see serious cases and ask if it is not urgent please wait until lock down is over. This will be determined by a case-by-case basis.

This last paragraph was provided by the Society of Natural Therapists and Researchers (SNTR) Inc.

Can I get a massage?
You can only get a massage if it is for the management or prevention of a disease, injury or condition provided by a registered health practitioner or qualified massage therapist. However, we strongly encourage any non-urgent appointments that can wait until after the lock down period to be postponed. Physical distancing must be observed to the extent possible.

All booked for the 14/11. Looking forward to add both RockBlades 2.0 & Mohawk to my treatments.

Hello everyone,

If you have not heard yet, the gyms have reopened, and I am able to use my room at Goodlife Browns Plains.

There are a few changes as well.

As always, my clients who are not gym members will be required to sign in at reception.

All Clients will be required to fill out one of my forms regarding your current health, seeing if you have been unwell in the last 14 days.

Table, chairs, desk will all be sanitized before and after each client Including and wiping down of equipment used during treatment. So, there will be a larger gap between Goodlife clients.

No cash will be accepted. Payment transfer will be by direct debit or use of EFTPOS terminal (tap preferred). Cleaning of phone and Terminal as required.

Please have a shower after your gym session, just as a courtesy to me. A closed room with no windows can get stale after an hour of treatment.

Looking forward to seeing you all again and please keep safe.

As of midnight Wednesday, March 25th following the announcement made by Scott Morrison the Prime Minister I’m temporarily closing my business. Stage 2 restrictions have been enforced. I am unable to provide my services as a Remedial Massage Therapist. Wishing all my customers to stay safe and healthy. Looking forward to being back in business once the restrictions have been lifted.

With winter almost here and the current virus making its way around, if you are feeling unwell and have an appointment booked. Please reschedule when you are feeling better.

If I do become ill that puts me into a position of not being able to work for a minimum of 2 weeks and rescheduling multiple appointments. This hurts small businesses like mine and disrupts other client’s schedules as well. I’d very much like to avoid this.
I understand people are in a lot of discomfort, but it isn’t worth spreading the virus. Even if I don’t get sick myself, I’m in very close contact with clients who have low immune systems.
The most efficient way to stop spreading disease is to wash your hands with warm soapy water for a minimum of 20 seconds. The easiest way to remember is to sign happy birthday to your self out loud while washing your hands.
